Abstract:
An automated method to quantify the pitching and yawing motion of a projectile during ballistic flight using two camera/tracker video systems. Image processing tools are used to segment the shape of the projectile in each frame of a launch video, which allows the location and observed pitch angle to be calculated with sub-pixel accuracy. Subsequent automated analysis uses the history of the projectile location and the pitching behavior to calculate estimates for the epicyclic motion, as well as other ballistic parameters such as aeroballistic coefficients. Using two cameras located at different orthographic views of the line-of-fire (LOF) allows the pitching and yawing motion history of the projectile to be calculated in three dimensions (3D). In addition, input of the camera locations, cannon trunnion location, and the cannon pointing direction allows for automatic correction for camera misalignment.
Abstract:
A laser shooting training system includes a target device including a target area and a camera for photographing the target area, and an analysis device for calculating a coordinate of a laser discharged to the target area based on an image photographed by the camera, and displaying a spotted position corresponding to the laser coordinate to a user display screen. The analysis device calculates a center coordinate of a laser area included in the image, corrects the center coordinate based on a correction value relating to a size of the laser area, and calculates the laser coordinate.
Abstract:
Method and system for providing precise stabilization of a supporting structure for supporting at least one device used for aiming while the supporting structure is moving. MEMS gyroscope is employed for providing stabilization signals to driving means connected to said supporting structure for continuous stabilization adjustments of movements of the supporting structure.
Abstract:
A simulation system for predicting a likelihood of whether a target object positioned in an environment will be detected by a detection system when illuminated by a laser source. The simulation system may be used for a laser rangefinder application and a laser designator application. The simulation system may provide a detection probability of the target object at a specified range to the detection system or a plurality of detection probabilities as a function of the range to the detection system. The simulation system may provide an indication of an overlap of the beam provided by the laser source on the target object. The simulation system may determine the effect of vibration on the detection of the target object at a specified range.
Abstract:
A boresight alignment system is disclosed. The system comprises a frame movement sensor operable to determine a reference position on an object, a frame alignment sensor operable to determine a first boresight position on the object, a data acquisition processing unit in communication with the frame movement and frame alignment sensors and a display processing unit in communication with the data acquisition processing unit. The display processing unit is operable to display near real time attitude data measured by the frame movement and frame alignment sensors. The data acquisition processing unit comprises program instructions to correct for angular differences with respect to a reference position.
Abstract:
An image projection system for presenting an image to a viewer comprises an electromagnetic radiation source configured to generate radiation having multiple spectral characteristics, and multiple independently operable optical switches configured to selectively transmit, reflect, and/or block radiation from the radiation source to the viewer. The viewed image is made up of pixels defined by the selective operation of the optical switches with the radiation source.
