Abstract:
A self propelled flying vehicle (1) adapted to emulate a hostile firing action comprises an ultraviolet light source (5) in communication with a driving means (7) for driving the ultraviolet light source. The driving means (7) stores information indicative of an ultraviolet profile of a hostile firing action and, in use, communicates the ultraviolet profile to the ultraviolet light source (5).
Abstract:
A coupler that generates and emits a simulated missile signature for assessing the operational capability of a missile approach warning system. The coupler may be directly attached to the system by an adapter. Couplers may be used in multiplicity, simultaneously or sequentially. The simulated signature may be digitally stored, as may be the results of the assessment. Simulated signatures may also be generated from freeform. The coupler also performs sensitivity testing.
Abstract:
A fixed-source array test station provides a compact cost-effective high-throughput test bed for testing optical sensors that require stimulus at fixed angular positions. An array of fixed collimated sources at different angular positions in the sensor's FOV are positioned on a surface of a focal sphere at the effective focal length of a spherical lens and aligned along respective radial lines to the center of the spherical lens so that each said divergent optical beam is collimated by the spherical lens to form a collimated optical beam that overlaps the entire entrance pupil of the optical seeker. The sources are activated in accordance with an activation profile in order to calibrate or otherwise test the sensor.
Abstract:
A target scene generator for testing an imaging ladar in a Hard Ware in the Loop arrangement, such as might be employed for testing an optical seeker on a guided missile, the generator comprising an array of pixel elements 10, a photodetector 20 for detecting incident light from a ladar a laser source 18 for generating pulses of light representing returned ladar pulses, and a reconfigurable fibre network 14 including an optical switch selectively coupling the laser 18 to the pixel elements, and a controller 22 which selectively reconfigures the fibre network, to present to selected pixel elements the pulses of light with selected time delay characteristics such that light emitted from the pixels represent light returned from a target illuminated by the ladar.
Abstract:
An image projection system for presenting an image to a viewer comprises an electromagnetic radiation source configured to generate radiation having multiple spectral characteristics, and multiple independently operable optical switches configured to selectively transmit, reflect, and/or block radiation from the radiation source to the viewer. The viewed image is made up of pixels defined by the selective operation of the optical switches with the radiation source.
Abstract:
An emitting structure for simulating an irradiance signature of a missile is provided. The emitting structure includes one or more radiation sources, each of which includes at least one ultraviolet radiation source and at least one infrared radiation source. The emitting structure also includes a spherical shell and a mechanism for positioning the radiation source(s) along a three dimensional boundary of the spherical shell. The emitting structure can locate and operate one of the radiation sources to simulate the irradiance signature of the missile.
Abstract:
A system for evaluating aircraft/watercraft/battle-vehicle survivability equipment comprising: (1) a Static Pyrotechnic Unit (SPTU) and a support stand; (2) a system of Short Range Simulating Rocket (SRSR) and a rocket launching apparatus; and (3) a control system that activates said Static Pyrotechnic Unit in (1) and said system SRSR in (2). When the Static pyrotechnic Unit is ignited, the resulting flash has an IR wavelength and multi spectral emission, intensity and time duration that simulate the initial flash created by a shoulder missile. When the Short Range Simulating Rocket is fired, the resulting radiation has an IR wavelength and multi spectral emission, intensity and time duration that simulates the radiation trail emitted from a fired shoulder missile. The flash created by the Static pyrotechnic Unit, and the trail emission of the Short Range Simulating Rocket are detected by the target survivability detection equipment, enabling the target to take protective measures.
Abstract:
A system comprises a micro-mirror device including a surface having a plurality of micro-mirrors movable to reflect light incident to the micro-mirrors in at least a first direction and a second direction, a control circuit configured to arrange the micro-mirrors to project a spatial image using the incident light and to generate spectral content for the formed spatial image, and a spectrometer circuit configured to extract spectral image information from the generated spectral content and provide the spectral image information to the control circuit. The spectral content includes light having one or more wavelengths outside a range of wavelengths for visible light, and the control circuit is configured to rearrange one or more micro-mirrors of the micro-mirror device to adjust spectral content based on the extracted spectral image information.
