摘要: The present invention provides a high temperature vacuum furnace that includes a prefabricated solid tongue-and-groove HEFVAC insulation ring assembly hot zone with significantly reduced overall mass, resulting in increased energy efficiency, faster heating and cooling cycles, reduced electricity costs, and expedited maintenance capability thus resulting in lower maintenance costs. The present design eliminates the prior art heavy, fully enclosed metal support ring designed to ensure retention of the insulation shield packages, including all retainer pins and nozzles in place during the heating and high pressure gas quenching cycles, found in prior art vacuum furnaces. The prior art metal support ring is replaced with a bottom support structure whose mass is approximately 80-85% less than the mass of the old support ring. Reducing the mass within the furnace chamber reduces the time and energy it takes to heat and cool the furnace components and the workload being heat treated. Decreased time in the furnace improves production turnaround and lowers energy costs for each heat treating cycle. In one embodiment the prefabricated HEFVAC insulation assembly outer surface contains a very thin stainless steel sheet of approximately 0.030 inches thick, which acts as a low emissivity reflective shield between the prefabricated insulation board ring assembly and the outer water-cooled furnace chamber wall. In another embodiment the prefabricated HEFVAC insulation assembly has no stainless steel sheet on its outside surface adjacent to the furnace plenum and the outer water-cooled furnace chamber wall. The present furnace is easier and less expensive to manufacture compared to prior art vacuum furnaces, and requires less energy to operate.

摘要: Exemplary embodiments of the invention relate to a compressive rod assembly for applying force to a refractory vessel positioned within an outer metal casing. The assembly includes a rigid elongated rod having first and second opposed ends, a threaded bolt adjacent to the first opposed end of the elongated rod, and a compressive structure positioned operationally between the elongated rod and the bolt. Compressive force applied by the bolt to the elongated rod passes through the compressive structure which allows limited longitudinal movements of the elongated rod to be accommodated by the compressive structure without requiring corresponding longitudinal movements of the bolt. Exemplary embodiments also relate to rod structure forming a component of the assembly, and to a metal containment structure having a vessel supported and compressed by at least one such assembly.

摘要: The invention relates to a heat shield arrangement for a hot gas conducting structure, in particular a metal component of a gas turbine unit or combustion chamber, with the heat shield elements anchored adjacently on a support structure to cover a surface. Said heat shield elements each comprise a lateral groove, arranged in the region of the edge of the surface thereof facing the hot gas, at least two adjacent shield elements are connected by at least one seal element mounted in the groove. The seal element is embodied as a sealing flap, which may be displaced from a first position to a second position and vice versa, whereby the first position is an open position without a sealing effect and the second position is a closed position with a sealing effect. According to said method the sealing flap is moved from the first to the second position by the movement of a heat shield element.

摘要: In a thermal treatment apparatus comprising a plurality of thermal treatment chambers in which an object to be treated is thermally treated while being transported, at least one pair of two adjacent thermal treatment chambers of which inside temperatures are different from each other are connected through a thermal insulating structural member, whereby thermal conduction between the chambers such as muffles is prevented to reduce a heat loss caused in the thermal treatment apparatus, and therefore, input thermal energy which is necessary to carry out a predetermined thermal treatment is significantly reduced without affecting quality and yield of the object.

摘要: An improved return path for electric current through a conductive hearth of a direct current arc furnace is provided by pressing a ring of water cooled copper blocks into the periphery of a sidewall of the hearth of the furnace, the hearth having zones of conductive refractory providing an electrical path between the contents of the furnace of the copper blocks. The hearth is compressed by a tensioned peripheral band which may also support the blocks. The peripheral water cooled copper blocks may be divided into multiple groups, each group connected to one pole of a direct current power supply, the opposite pole of which is connected to a suspended electrode, permitting control of arc deflection.

摘要: An inner liner for a tubular casing, with the casing having a support means for coaxially supporting the liner within the casing. The liner has an axis and is made of material having a different coefficient of linear expansion than the casing, and comprises at least one tubular section having an outer surface which defines at least one conical support section for resting against the support means at contact points with the support means. The contact points are located on generatrices of a conceived cone or pyramid, with the generatrices radiating from a fixed point on the axis of the liner coinciding with the tip of the cone or pyramid.
