Abstract:
An air purifier includes a main body having an inlet and a discharge device mounted on the main body and configured to receive air introduced into the main body through the inlet and discharge the air from the air purifier, wherein the discharge device includes a discharge opening, an opening and closing member including a portion having a size and shape corresponding to the discharge opening, and configured to move out of the discharge opening and into the discharge opening to open and close the discharge opening, and a discharge portion including a plurality of discharge holes, wherein each discharge hole of the plurality of discharge holes has a size smaller than a size of the discharge opening, and wherein the discharge portion has an air discharging area that is variable.
Abstract:
Various arrangements of smart devices and systems are presented. Such smart devices and systems may include a wireless interface, a light sensor that detects an ambient brightness level of an ambient environment of the smart device, a motion sensor that detects motion of a user in the ambient environment of the smart device, a light that is capable of outputting light into the ambient environment of the smart device, and a processing system. The processing system may cause the light to illuminate based on: the message indicating that the lighting feature has been activated; the ambient brightness level being below the threshold brightness value; and the user moving in the ambient environment of the smart device or system.
Abstract:
A smoke vent including a curb and door assembly utilizing a continuous hinge assembly that extends an entire length of a door. Hinge members of the door assembly and curb define continuous, extruded hinge members such that the door is supported across the entire length of the hinge members, whereby localized deflection of the curb is avoided. By supporting the door across the entire length of the hinge member, a door seal can be evenly compressed against the curb so as to prevent moisture/water intrusion when the door is in a closed disposition. The door assembly can further include a dome member that substantially defines an upper and lower surface of the door(s). Each door can comprise a plurality of retainer clips that positively couple the dome member to extruded members that define a door frame while providing a moisture resistant seal between the dome member and the door frame.
Abstract:
Hazardous or dangerous conditions may be monitored. A mode may be set to a state indicative of the condition being present. It may then be determined that the hazardous or dangerous condition has eased. An indication of the hazardous or dangerous condition easing may be output in response to the determination. Such an indication may be output as synthesized speech.
Abstract:
Various arrangements for assessing an installation of a smart home device are presented. A video camera device may capture video indicative of a location of the smart home device. The video indicative of the location of the smart home device may be analyzed to determine whether the location of the smart home device prevents the smart home device from operating within specification. An indication may then be output indicative of whether the location of the smart home device prevents the smart home device from operating within specification.
Abstract:
A particular smart hazard detector may itself function as a guide during a process of installation of the same at an installation location. Additionally, the installation location of the particular smart hazard detector may play a central role in how various settings of the smart hazard detector are defined and adjusted over time.
Abstract:
Hazard detector for providing a pre-alarm of a developing hazardous condition includes a detection module that detects a hazard level of smoke or carbon monoxide, a storage module that stores a pre-alarm threshold and an emergency threshold, a light source that generates light in a first color, a second color, and a third color, a speaker that generates an audible sound, a horn that generates an audible alarm that a higher volume than the speaker, and a processing module. The processing module receives the detected hazard level and compares it with the pre-alarm threshold and the emergency threshold. The processing module determines that the hazard level is greater than the pre-alarm threshold and less than the emergency threshold and generates an audible pre-alarm speech via the speaker that warns of the developing hazardous condition. The processing module also activates the light source in the second color.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for controlling a climate control system of a smart-home environment that includes a plurality of smart devices are provided. One method includes detecting, with a hazard detector of the smart devices, a level of carbon monoxide (CO) at the hazard detector that exceeds a threshold CO level at a location of the hazard detector, determining, by one of the smart devices, that the climate control system includes a combustion based heat source, and in response to the detecting and the determination, transmitting, by a system controller of the climate control system, a first signal to turn off at least one aspect of the climate control system.

Abstract:
A smoke and heat evacuator that can be applied at an opening of a generally vertical wall of a closed environment, includes a supporting frame bearing a shutter, which oscillates between a normally closed position and an open position via at least one lateral linkage having a first arm that, in the closed position, extends obliquely, with a top end articulated to the shutter via a slider subject to the downward-thrust action of a spring and with a bottom end articulated to the supporting frame via a second lengthenable arm.
