    摘要: There is disclosed a solar energy operated system and method in which a quantity of liquid media is placed in solar collectors and heated to a preselected temperature therein. Upon reaching this temperature, the liquid is transferred to a first storage vessel. The liquid is replaced in the collectors from a separate second storage vessel. The hot liquid is drawn from the first vessel and circulated to a heat exchanger of a heat operated device, such as an absorption refrigeration device or a space heating device, and heat is exchanged thereby to operate such device. The liquid is returned from the heat exchanger of the device to the second storage vessel so as not to thermally contaminate the higher temperature liquid processed by the solar collectors. This is termed a batching method of operating the solar energy collectors in the system. The system maintains a supply of useful high quality thermal energy in the liquid media at a constant selected temperature to meet operating conditions of the heat operated device in which it is to be used. Also the system provides for auxiliary heating of the liquid to supplement solar energy when the latter is not readily available or insufficient to meet the demand of the load. Domestic hot water is obtained by circulation of water through heat exchange means in the second vessel. The functions of the system are maintained by an electronic programmable controller to carry out the transfer of liquid in the system according to selected data and conditions.

    摘要: A water heater is provided having an insulated tank having a water inlet and a water outlet, and further defining an interior volume to contain a quantity of water. A primary heating arrangement applies heat energy to the water so as to heat the water. In addition, the primary heating arrangement is configured to maintain the water during standby periods between upper and lower set point temperatures. A supplemental heating arrangement is operative to supply additional heat energy to the water in order to lessen energy usage by the primary heating arrangement during the standby periods. In accordance with a preferred embodiment, the supplemental heating arrangement includes at least one photovoltaic panel and a supplemental heating element. Control electronics are operatively interposed between the at least one photovoltaic panel and the supplemental heating element.

    摘要: An improved solar energy control system and method are disclosed that enables efficient utiliziation of heat produced from solar energy in heating air and/or water. The system and method sense the availability of heat along with the need for such heat at monitored areas and, responsive thereto, selectively directs the heat to the monitored areas as necessary to cause the temperature in each area to be increased to predetermined levels. To most efficiently utilize heat derived from a solar collector, the heat initially made available from the collector is directed to the water within a temperature monitored water heater when the water is sensed to be at a temperature lower than the air in a temperature monitored room. The heat available from the collector is directed to the air in the temperature monitored room when sufficient heat is sensed to be available at the collector to heat the room and such heat application is continued until the temperature of the monitored room reaches a preselected temperature, after which the heat from the collector is directed to the water in the water heater until the water temperature is increased to a preselected temperature, and then the heat from the collector is directed to the air in the monitored room until the temperature of the monitored room is increased to a preselected temperature higher than the first preselected room temperature. The control system includes visual displays for indicating sensed temperatures, determined capabilities and/or needs. Improved probes are also disclosed for sensing of air, water and collector temperatures.

    摘要: The present invention describes a method, system and apparatus for optimizing a flow of thermal fluid through one in a multitude of local reservoirs (e.g. water tank) which may have local heating capability and which shares a common water heating source (e.g. solar panels). Keeping a minimal flow from the inlet to the outlet allows a continuous temperature difference monitoring, which is then used to vary the local flow through an automated system, while also taking in consideration the effect of an optional local heating source.
