    摘要: An opening apparatus for a gas pressure container for inflating an airbag is provided. A housing is fixedly connected to the container and communicates therewith via a discharge opening. The housing includes a principal member that has oppositely disposed open ends. A sealing element for initially sealing the discharge opening is supported by a pressure piece on a counterbearing against opening forces acting on the sealing element via gas pressure in the container. A triggering device is provided that when activated removes support for the sealing element so that the discharge opening is opened by gas pressure in the container for inflating the airbag. The triggering device is in the form of a separate unit that is independently mountable on the housing and is held n one of the end plates. Support of the sealing element is stable independently of the triggering device.

    摘要: A system for charging a metallic canister having a filler opening therein with a gas under pressure and then sealing the opening to provide a closed, pressurized canister generally consisting of means for retaining the canister in a predetermined orientation, a sealing member having a guide passageway therein displaceable between an extended position in sealing engagement with a canister disposed in the predetermined orientation, with the guide passageway therein communicating with the filler opening of the canister, and a retracted position out of sealing engagement with the canister, a first means for applying a gas under pressure to a first side of the sealing member to urge the sealing member into into its retracted position, second means for supplying a gas under pressure to an opposite side of the sealing member to urge the sealing member into its extended position in sealing engagement with the canister, third means for supplying a gas under a third pressure to the guide passageway of the sealing member when the sealing member is in its extended position to pressurize the canister, means for welding the filler opening of the canister closed when the sealing member is in its extended position in sealing engagement with the canister and while operating the third gas supplying means and maintaining the pressure in the canister at the third pressure, and means for sequentially deactivating the third gas supplying means, deactivating the second gas supplying means and activating the first gas supplying means to return the sealing member to its retracted position.

    摘要: A capsule loaded with a pressurized gas has a single front aperture sealed by an internal plug made of resilient material. The cartridge is loaded by placing it inside a pressurized chamber, then drawing the internal plug against the aperture before decompressing the chamber. A self-propelling embodiment comprises an expellable volume of liquid stored in the rear section of the cartridge in contact with its puncturable base, and separated from the pressurized gas by a floating piston. The base is concavely formed into a bell shape to focus the expelled liquid in a rearward direction.
