    Abstract: An initiator for opening a pressurized gas cylinder is disclosed herein. The initiator includes a housing having a first end and a second end, a lance disposed within the housing, the lance configured to slide from the first end of the housing to the second end of the housing and out through the second end of the housing, a spring disposed within the housing between the first end of the housing and the lance, and a wire coupled to the first end of the housing and to the lance, the wire configured to hold the spring in a compressed state, the wire further configured to break in response to an electric current.

    Abstract: A pressure containment assembly for use with a plurality of sensor assemblies for monitoring a parameter within a pressure vessel is disclosed. The pressure containment assembly includes a primary seal plate to seal against pressure in the pressure vessel and a plurality of passageways to receive the sensor assemblies. The containment assembly also includes a secondary seal cap connected to the process plate and covering the passageways. The seal cap includes a recessed region that is oriented such that, when the seal cap is sealed to the primary seal plate, the recessed region creates a sealed pressure containment chamber.

    Abstract: An arrangement including a pressure vessel system and a closure element. The pressure vessel system cover has an opening. The closure element is fastened in the opening and is configured to at least partially close the opening. The closure element includes a covering portion with at least one sacrificial portion and a fastening portion. The closure element is fastened to the pressure vessel system cover in a region of the opening via the fastening portion, sealing the covering portion with respect to the pressure vessel system cover. The at least one sacrificial portion is configured to be destroyed and thus at least partially expose a cutout in the covering portion when a temperature of the covering portion rises above a first temperature threshold value.

    Abstract: A reservoir assembly includes one or more pressure vessels each having a non-circular cross-sectional shape including a rounded rectangle having four generally flat sides with rounded corners. The pressure vessels may be formed of extruded metal, such as aluminum, and have a generally constant cross-section. The pressure vessels include stiffening ribs and varying wall thicknesses to improve strength and to minimize stresses when pressurized, such as during operation when filled with compressed gas. The stiffening ribs meet in the center of each of the pressure vessels and divide the interior volumes into four equal sections. A cap of stamped aluminum is fitted and fully welded to enclose each end of the pressure vessels. One or both of the caps on each of the pressure vessels has a pressure fitting. Two or more pressure vessels extend parallel to one another and are attached together to form the reservoir assembly.

    Abstract: A subsurface storage container for a volume of a small molecular gas. An outer casing is axially aligned with an inner liner to define an annulus filled with a non-hardening, incompressible liquid. Sealing assemblies respectively seal upper and lower ends of the annulus and an interior storage space within the inner liner. In some embodiments, the interior storage space stores hydrogen gas at a pressure of about 10,000 psi or higher, and the liquid in the annulus comprises propylene glycol at a selected concentration which is pre-charged at a pressure such as around 3,000 psi. The liquid transfers compressive force from the inner liner to the outer casing to facilitate motor vehicle refueling operations without the need for a compressor to provide the gas at required delivery pressures. The storage container may be arranged into a group or pod that is supported by a support member over a well bore.
