Abstract: An electromagnetic clutch includes a field core including a coil storage groove, and a rotor including a core storage groove. The coil storage groove is formed by an inner cylindrical portion, an outer cylindrical portion, and a bottom portion. The bottom portion of the field core wholly projects to the outside of the core storage groove. The outer peripheral surface of the inner cylindrical portion and the inner peripheral surface of the outer cylindrical portion include a first transition surface and a second transition surface, respectively, on the bottom portion side. Each of the first transition surface and the second transition surface includes a tilting surface that gradually narrows the groove width of the coil storage groove along with an increase in a distance from the side of the opening of the coil storage groove.

Abstract: A transmission having a rotating clutch pack assembly is provided, The rotating clutch pack having an interconnecting member, a plurality of friction discs, a rotating member, a first and a second axial bearing, and a biasing member. The interconnecting member is connected for common rotation with a member of the planetary gear set. The rotating member is connected to the second set of friction discs for common rotation. The first axial bearing is disposed between the clutch piston and the plurality of friction discs and the second axial bearing is disposed between the plurality of friction discs and the transmission housing. The biasing member is disposed between the interconnecting member and the rotating member. A clutch piston selectively applies an axial force through the first axial bearing, the plurality of friction discs, and the second axial bearing to the transmission housing.

Abstract: A belt pulley decoupler is provided for transmitting a drive torque from the belt of an auxiliary unit belt drive to the shaft of one of the auxiliary units. The decoupler a belt pulley, a hub fixed on the shaft, and a one-way clutch and a coil torsion spring arranged in series in the drive torque flow between the belt pulley and the hub. The spring extends about the axis of rotation of the belt pulley decoupler and widens radially under transmission of a drive torque. The ends of the coil torsion spring contact respective axially ascending ramp-shaped spring support surface of a first spring plate and of a second spring plate. At least one of the spring plates is a sheet metal shaped part having a spring support surface integrally formed thereon.

Abstract: A lock-up device for a torque converter transmits a torque from a front cover to a transmission-side member through a turbine. The lock-up device includes a clutch portion, a piston, a support member, and a synchronization mechanism. The clutch portion is disposed between the front cover and the turbine. The piston is movable in an axial direction. The piston turns the clutch portion into a torque transmission state. The support member supports the piston such that the piston is movable. The support member defines an oil chamber together with the piston. The oil chamber is supplied a hydraulic oil for activating the piston. Abstract: In an aspect, the invention is directed to a clutched device that includes a clutch input member, a clutch output member, and a wrap spring clutch. The wrap spring clutch is engageable with the clutch input member and the clutch output member and has a radially outer surface and a radially inner surface. One of the radially outer and inner surfaces is engageable with a clutch engagement surface on one of the clutch input member and the clutch output member. The clutch engagement surface has a surface finish that includes a plurality of peaks and valleys, wherein the peaks engage the wrap spring clutch and each have a selected width.

Abstract: A clutch hub is splined to a planetary ring gear and a second rotating element, coupling the two elements. The spline defines a number of axial fluid distribution channels that conduct fluid from an interior radial passageway beside the ring gear to exterior radial passageways over the ring gear. These axial passageways permit packaging the clutch pack directly over the ring gear without drilling holes in the hardened gear material. The axial channels may be defined by radial space between the splined components. Alternatively or additionally, some spline teeth may be omitted to define larger axial channels.
