    Abstract: The disclosure relates to a belt pulley decoupler for transmitting torque between the belt of a belt drive and a shaft in driving connection therewith. The belt pulley decoupler includes: a hub fastened to the shaft, a belt pulley rotatably mounted on the hub, a helical torsion spring arranged in a torque flow path between the belt pulley and the hub, a first spring plate extending in the torque flow path on a side of the belt pulley, and a second spring plate rotationally fixed to the hub.
    The hub has an imbalance which compensates for an imbalance of the helical torsion spring resulting from a ground portion of the spring ends in such a way that the following relationship applies for the spring imbalance {right arrow over (U)}s and the hub imbalance {right arrow over (U)}b: |{right arrow over (U)}s+{right arrow over (U)}b|

    Abstract: The disclosure relates to a belt pulley decoupler for transmitting torque between the belt of a belt drive and a shaft in driving connection therewith. The belt pulley decoupler includes a hub, a belt pulley, and a series circuit of a helical torsion spring, a wrap-around band, which surrounds the helical torsion spring with a radial gap, and a driver sleeve, which surrounds the wrap-around band and transmits the torque between the wrap-around band and the helical torsion spring. An outer periphery of the wrap-around band is in frictional contact with an inner lateral surface, which rotates conjointly with the belt pulley, and the outer periphery of the wrap-around band is also in frictional contact with the inner lateral surface of the driver sleeve. An end of the helical torsion spring is in contact with a radially inwardly extending spring plate of the driver sleeve.

    Abstract: In an aspect, a decoupler is provided and includes an input member, an output member, a one-way clutch and an isolation spring. The one-way clutch receives torque from the input member. The isolation spring is helical, having a first helical end and a second helical end, and has first and second axial ends, and radially outer and inner surfaces. The isolation spring receives torque from the clutch, and transmits torque to the output member. The isolation spring changes size radially based on torque. The input member includes a radial projection that is positioned to frictionally engage one of the radially outer and inner surfaces of the spring when the spring reaches a selected size. Frictional engagement of the radial projection with the spring generates torque transfer directly from the input member to the spring in parallel with torque transfer from the input member to the spring through the clutch.

    Abstract: A small and compact rotation transmitter includes a torque limiter and an angular position holding apparatus. An outer race member is installed in a housing, and a coil spring is mounted on the outer peripheral surface thereof. Inside the outer race member, an internal space is formed, and an inner race member is installed concentrically with the outer race member. In the annular space between the outer and inner race members, a thin-plate elastic piece is pressed against the outer and inner race members, and either the outer or inner race member is connected to an input-side device while the other is connected to an output-side device. Even without rotation torque, the position of the output-side device is held by the coil spring. When the rotation torque from the input-side device becomes excessive, slippage occurs on the thin-plate elastic piece, whereby the outer and inner race members are disconnected.

    Abstract: In an aspect, an isolation device is provided for a belt and a component shaft in an engine. The device includes a hub, a pulley, an isolation spring and a damping member that is fixed rotationally relative to the hub and is engageable frictionally with the pulley. Torque transmission through the spring below a selected non-zero torque, irrespective of hub load on the pulley, drives a change in radius of the helical coils of the spring that is sufficiently small that the spring avoids pressing the damping member against the pulley. Torque transmission through the spring above the selected non-zero torque, irrespective of hub load on the pulley, drives a change in radius of the helical coils that is sufficiently large that the isolation spring applies a radial force to press the damping member against the pulley so as to generate frictional damping.

    Abstract: A vehicle has an internal combustion engine, an accessory, and a system having first and second belts extending between a drive assembly rotatably connected to a crankshaft of the engine and a driven assembly rotatably connected to a driveshaft of the accessory. One of the drive and driven assemblies comprises a mechanism with a shaft supporting first and second pulleys, with the first and second pulleys associated with the first and second belts, respectively. The first pulley is selectively engaged with the shaft in response to an engine speed being below a threshold value, and the second pulley is selectively engaged with the shaft in response to the engine speed being above the threshold value.
