摘要: Apparatuses and methods are provided for locking an air-moving assembly within a chassis when in operational state. The apparatus includes a locking louver assembly having a louver(s) and locking mechanism. The louver(s) is disposed at an air inlet or outlet of the air-moving assembly, and pivots between operational and quiesced orientations, dependent on presence or absence, respectively, of airflow through the air-moving assembly. The locking mechanism includes a keying element(s) affixed to the louver(s) to pivot therewith, which includes an elongated key(s) oriented in a first direction when the louver(s) is in operational orientation, and a second direction when in quiesced orientation. A key-receiving element(s) is associated with the chassis and includes a key opening(s) which receives and accommodates movement of the elongated key(s) between the first and second directions, and prevents removal of the air-moving assembly from the chassis with the key(s) oriented in the first direction.

摘要: A compact back-flow stopper using an elastic flexure mechanism for a cooling fan is shown and described. The backflow stopper assembly comprises a frame configured to structurally support a fin array when coupled to a fan. The fin array comprises a plurality of flexural deformation elements and associated fin elements arrayed in a radial arrangement to establish a pathway for airflow, each of the flexural deformation elements configured to move an attached fin element responsive to airflow impacting the attached fin element. Flex limiter elements are coupled to the frame and configured to limit flexure of the fin elements beyond a predetermined flexure in relation to the frame to stop backflow of air through the fin array. A fan assembly with a backflow stopper is shown and described. Also, a data storage assembly using fan assemblies with backflow stoppers is also shown and described.

摘要: A fan assembly comprises a fan and a movable fan support. The fan has a motor and a fan blade drivable by the motor to move air in an airflow direction through an opening. The movable fan support is configured to movably support at least the fan. The fan support is mountable adjacent the opening on a first side and comprises extension members extendable from an operating position on the first side of the opening to an access position on a second side of the opening opposite the first side. In the access position, the extension members extend through the opening from the first side to the second side to support the motor and fan blade on the second of the opening for access.

摘要: A backflow prevention device includes a plurality of flaps that are connected pivotally to a casing of a fan. When a blade unit of the fan rotates to generate an airflow entering the casing via an airflow inlet and exiting the casing via an airflow outlet, the flaps are driven to pivot away from the blade unit to open positions, where the flaps serve as stator blades for the fan. When rotation of the blade unit is stopped, the flaps are driven by a reverse flow directed toward the airflow outlet and the blade unit to pivot toward the blade unit to closed positions, where the flaps close the airflow outlet to prevent air from entering the casing via the airflow outlet.

摘要: A fan damper includes a frame and a plurality of hollow airfoil blades, each having a leading edge, a trailing edge, a seal formed on the trailing edge, and a pivot mechanism on either end of each blade, each of which pivot mechanisms includes an extension that includes a weight. A secondary seal is positioned between the pivot mechanisms and the sides of the frame. A ladder bar connects the pivot mechanisms. During significant air pressure changes, such as when a fan is turned on, the airfoil blades are caused to move, against the weights from a first, closed, overlapping position relative to the frame, whereupon the seal on the trailing edge of a relatively upper blade seals against the leading edge of an adjacent relatively lower blade, and the secondary side frame seal seals against the pivot mechanisms, to a second, open position. The airfoil blades will stay in the open position as long as the air pressure is enough to overcome the effect of the weights. When the air pressure decreases sufficiently, the blades return to the closed, overlapping position.

摘要: An extraction fan has a housing mounted in a wall with an outlet duct extending through the wall to an outlet opening outside the wall. A damper flap is mounted on the fan suspended by a hinge at an upper edge so as to extend in a closed position across the opening and is movable to an open position under forward air flow from the fan, and tightly closes against a resilient deformable seal when the fan is shut off. A spring biasing cam applies inwards force to the damper flap to bias the damper flap into the closed position, and an outwards force also to bias the damper flap into the fully open position. The mounting plate includes a hood having a top wall extending over the top of the damper flap and a down-turned front flange extending parallel to the damper flap to a bottom edge.
