    摘要: A compressor airfoil tip clearance optimization system for reducing a gap between a tip of a compressor airfoil and a radially adjacent component of a turbine engine is disclosed. The turbine engine may include ID and OD flowpath boundaries configured to minimize compressor airfoil tip clearances during turbine engine operation in cooperation with one or more clearance reduction systems that are configured to move the rotor assembly axially to reduce tip clearance. The configurations of the ID and OD flowpath boundaries enhance the effectiveness of the axial movement of the rotor assembly, which includes movement of the ID flowpath boundary. During operation of the turbine engine, the rotor assembly may be moved axially to increase the efficiency of the turbine engine.

    摘要: A fan design method and fan structure is described, enabling independent control of the volume of airflow and the amount of noise produced. The noise produced is a close approximation to a pleasing red noise spectrum, and is generated solely by the interaction of the rotating fan blades with a petal assembly or a fan enclosure in several embodiments. A petal assembly may be positioned at varying spacings behind the rotating fan blades to control the level of noise production with minimal effect on the volume of airflow. Various aspects of the fan blade configuration, such as the blade pitch, camber, span, chord, etc., may be manipulated to control the ratio of airflow volume to the amount of noise produced.

    摘要: A turbomachine arranged with a rotor and a stator, including a radial positioning device ensuring that the rotor is radially positioned; and a contactless axial balancing device arranged on at least one bladed wheel for axially balancing the rotor at high speed. The turbomachine includes a thrust bearing distinct from the radial positioning device serving to balance the rotor axially at low speed, and without contact at high speed. In addition, the radial positioning device is constituted by hydrostatic bearings, the turbomachine including hydrostatic bearing feed circuits suitable for connecting the bearings to a source of fluid under pressure. As a result, it is possible to obtain operation at high speeds with a very long lifetime.

    摘要: The invention is a compression method having characteristics of smooth compression and internal cooling of the gas. Embodiments of the invention employ a cylindrical chamber and an orbiting rotor to create a moving duct or chamber whose walls converge, relative to a static gas packet drawn into the moving duct, at a “pinch point”. Preferably the closing speed of the walls is subsonic and the speed of the pinch point is supersonic. This enables high pressure to co-exist, at the narrowing end of the duct, with low pressure elsewhere in the duct, because of the pressure information barrier produced by the supersonic advance of the pinch point. The invention also discloses means for providing gas inlet and outlet functionality, and means for providing a variable flow compressor.

    摘要: The invention relates to a compressor, which is axially flowed through, for a gas turbine having an axially displaceable rotor. An annular flow channel, which narrows in an axial direction, is formed between a rotationally fixed outer delimiting surface and an inner delimiting surface on the rotor. A stationary ring comprised of guide profiles and at least one ring comprised of moving profiles attached to the rotor are placed inside said annular flow channel. The end of each moving or guide blade is located opposite an axial section of one of both delimiting surfaces while forming a radial gap. The aim of the invention is to provide a non-positive-displacement machine having an axially displaceable rotor whose velocity losses are at least not increased during an axial displacement of the rotor. To this end, the invention provides that the size of the radial gap between the end of each moving or guide blade and the opposite axial section of the delimiting surface is constant at least over the path of displacement of the rotor, and the radial gap extends parallel to the rotation axis of the rotor.

The fixture is designed to take the place of the fan clutch on a fan drive assembly in the vehicle being tested for a desired cooling system performance characteristic at each possible fan penetration.
