摘要: A control system for active stability management of a compressor element of a turbine engine is provided. In one example aspect, the control system includes one or more computing devices configured to receive data indicative of an operating characteristic associated with the compressor element. For instance, the data can be received from a high frequency sensor operable to sense pressure at the compressor element. The computing devices are also configured to determine, by a machine-learned model, a stall margin remaining of the compressor element based at least in part on the received data. The machine-learned model is trained to recognize certain characteristics of the received data and associate the characteristics with a stall margin remaining of the compressor element. The computing devices are also configured to cause adjustment of one or more engine systems based at least in part on the determined stall margin remaining.

摘要: A scroll vacuum pump has an axially extending drive shaft with an eccentric shaft portion, such that rotation of the drive shaft imparts an orbiting motion to an orbiting scroll relative to a fixed scroll. An axial adjustment mechanism has a plurality of adjustment members angularly spaced around the drive shaft and extending through the pump housing towards the orbiting scroll, the plurality of adjustment members each being configured to provide an independently adjustable axial position of the orbiting scroll. A plurality of sealing means isolate the plurality of adjustment members from a pump chamber, the plurality of sealing means extending around each of the plurality of adjustment members and comprising at least one flexible portion such that one end of the sealing means may orbit relative to a fixed other end of the sealing means.

摘要: Herein provided are methods and systems for controlling an engine having a variable geometry mechanism. A power level difference between a requested engine power level and a current engine power level is determined at a computing device. The power level difference is compared to a predetermined power threshold at the computing device. When the power level difference exceeds the predetermined power threshold, a position control signal for changing a position of the variable geometry mechanism is generated and output at the computing device, the position control signal generated based on a requisite bias level, the requisite bias level being based on the power level difference.

摘要: A rotary compressor system includes a compressor housing that includes a compressor motor that draws in fluid from a suction side. The fluid is compressed within a compression chamber and discharged through a discharge side. The compression chamber is disposed between the suction side and the discharge side. An overload-protection switch is electrically coupled in series with the compressor motor and is adapted to cut power to the compressor motor responsive to an overload event. A solenoid valve is fluidly coupled between the compression chamber and a location upstream of the suction side and is electrically coupled in series with the overload-protection switch. An interruption of electrical current to the compressor motor also interrupts electrical current to the solenoid valve, which opens the solenoid valve to equalize pressure between the suction side and the discharge side.

摘要: A turbocharger and a method are disclosed. The turbocharger includes a casing having an inlet end and an outlet end. A flow passage within the casing may have a substantially continuous inner surface and may be configured to pass inlet air from the inlet end to the outlet end. A compressor wheel may be located in the casing and may have at least one main blade and may be configured to rotate within the casing to compress the inlet air. A flow disrupting feature on the casing may be configured to disrupt the continuity of the inner surface and may be located at a leading edge of the at least one main blade. The flow disrupting feature may be closed to upstream communication with the flow passage except via the flow passage.

摘要: An improved system, apparatus and method for controlling vane angles in a gas turbine engine, and more specifically, for correcting vane angle error in a gas turbine engine. An active synchronization ring comprises a plurality of micro-actuators coupled to the synchronization ring to correct distortion in the synchronization ring. The micro-actuators apply a bending moment to the synchronization ring to cancel or compensate for synchronization ring distortion. The micro-actuators may be controlled open loop or closed loop. Strain sensors measure ring distortion and provide signals to the controller for closed loop control.

摘要: Method of operating an engine and electricity generator powered by torque from the engine is provided. The engine has a working-line which is a locus of engine operating points as the engine is throttled. The method includes increasing electrical-load on the generator. Repeatedly performing steps of: (i) detecting the engine working-line position; (ii) determining if the detected working-line position is sufficient for the engine to provide additional torque to power the generator while maintaining engine operation within range of acceptable engine operating conditions relative to the detected working-line position; (iii) when determination at step (ii) is that the engine operating condition is insufficient, modifying engine operational parameters to adjust the working-line position for the engine to provide additional torque while maintaining engine operation within the range of acceptable engine operating conditions; and (iv) increasing electrical-output from the generator by an amount so the engine provides additional torque. Repeating steps until the generator electrical-output matches electrical-load.

Particularly, methods and systems for controlling a centrifugal compressor speed and an inlet guide vane position that establishes three distinct regions in the control path: (i) during initial unloading from full load, the inlet guide vane position is kept at a fully open position while the centrifugal compressor speed is changed to achieve the desired cooling capacity; (ii) between an inflection point and a transition point, keeping the centrifugal compressor speed constant while the inlet guide vane position is changed to achieve the desired cooling capacity; and (iii) between the transition point and zero cooling capacity, changing both the inlet guide vane position and the centrifugal compressor speed to achieve the desired cooling capacity.
