    摘要: A foundation system includes: a pier supporting a bottom surface of a structure; a collar on the pier 1defining a first and second cable guide; a thrust bearing on the collar opposite the pier; a thrust plate on the bottom surface of the structure configured to mate with the thrust bearing; a first cable extending through the first cable guide along a first horizontal axis; a second cable extending through the second cable guide along a second horizontal axis; a first spring assembly coupled to the bottom surface of the structure and to the first cable configured to tension the first cable along the first horizontal axis to return the structure to a center position; and a second spring assembly coupled to the bottom surface of the structure, and configured to tension the second cable along the first horizontal axis to return the structure to the center position.

    摘要: Bridge systems and methods for constructing bridges having overhang surfaces employing generally rectangular, precast, prestressed concrete panels. One method includes delivering a plurality of generally rectangular, precast, prestressed concrete panels to an installation site, and delivering one or more support beams to the installation site, each support beam having a support and a base. The concrete panels are positioned on the supports of the one or more support beams with an overhang panel section and a traffic panel section. The concrete panels are then connected to the support beams by positioning steel reinforcement in block outs or voids, pouring unsolidified concrete into the voids, and curing the unsolidified concrete to form an overhang traffic surface. Bridges constructed employing the precast, prestressed concrete panels and methods. Other bridge systems employ prestressed concrete L-walls and double-T members, where weight-bearing L-walls have pockets for webs of the double-T members.

    摘要: A solid reinforced concrete column and a method of constructing the same are disclosed. The solid reinforced concrete column includes outer main reinforcing bars, inner reinforcing bars, inner transverse reinforcing bars, outer transverse reinforcing bars, and concrete. The outer main reinforcing bars are arranged in an axial direction. The inner reinforcing bars are each arranged to be placed between two or three of the outer main reinforcing bars inside the two or three outer main reinforcing bars in the axial direction. The inner transverse reinforcing bars are each arranged to connect the two or three outer main reinforcing bars and the inner reinforcing bar in a transverse direction. The outer transverse reinforcing bars are arranged to surround the outer main reinforcing bars outside the outer main reinforcing bars in the transverse direction. The concrete is placed to bury the reinforcing bars.

The piecewise continuously varying slope and curvature fairings provide manufacturing cost reductions, as well as cost reductions by reducing the frequency and complexity of monitoring practices for bridges and elimination of temporary fixes that require costly annual or periodic engineering studies and construction to mitigate scour on at-risk bridges. The probability of bridge failure and its associated liability to the public is totally avoided since the root cause of local scour is prevented.
