Abstract:
Water-soluble solvent compositions, including from about 10% to about 60% by weight of an aromatic ester; from about 30% to about 60% by weight of an aliphatic ester; from 0% to about 15% by weight of a co-solvent; from 0% to about 20% of one of a cyclic terpene and a terpenoid; from 0% to about 1% by weight of an odor-masking agent; and from 0% to about 20% by weight of a nonionic surfactant, for removing petroleum residue from a substrate, and methods of use thereof. The composition can further comprise water. The composition also can comprise an aqueous solution. The method for removing petroleum residue from a substrate can further comprise recycling the solvent composition by using a countercurrent separation column charged with compressed ammonia and/or carbon dioxide and a spinning band distillation column to separate the solvent composition from the petroleum residue.
Abstract:
The invention relates to pumpable aqueous pearlescent concentrates having a high active content of alkyl sulfates, alkyl ether sulfates, alkyl sulfonates, mono and diesters of sulfosuccinic acid (sulfosuccinates), alkyl glycinates, alkyl sarcosinates, and/or alkyl taurates, and fatty acid glycol esters and/or carbolic acid amides as pearlescent agents, and to a method for the production thereof. The pearlescent concentrates according to the invention are suitable as additives for improving the optical appearance of tenside components, for example of liquid washing and cleaning agents or liquid body wash and body care agents and hair care agents. The pearlescent concentrates according to the invention comprise 35 to 85% by weight of a dispersant selected from alkyl ether sulfates, alkyl sulfates, alkyl sulfonates, mono and diesters of sulfosuccinic acid, alkyl glycinates, alkyl sarcosinates and/or alkyl taurates, and mixtures thereof, 15 to 40% by weight of a pearlescent agent component selected from fatty acid glycol esters, fatty acid alkanol amides and mixtures thereof, optionally advantageous additives and water in the quantity short of 100% by weight, but not in a concentration greater than 30% by weight.
Abstract:
Polyethylene glycol esters and amides of polymerised fatty acids are useful dispersing agents for solids, particularly particulate solids, e.g. agrochemicals, oil drilling mud components, pigments, personal care formulants, ceramics, magnetic materials, extenders, fillers, optical brighteners, textile auxiliaries, or soil removed from clothes during cleaning, in aqueous media. Particular such agents are of the formula (I): [Pol]-(COX)m (I), where: Pol is the core residue of a polymerised fatty acid; m is 2 or 3; and each X is: OM; where M is H, a cationic salt forming species or a group -(AO)nR7; or a group —NR8-(AO)nR9; where AO is an alkylene oxide residue; n is from 1 to 100; and R7, R8 and R9 are as defined, from H, an anionic group, alkyl or alkenyl; provided that at least one X is a group of the formula -(AO)nR7 or —NR8-(AO)nR9.
Abstract:
A liquid and readily flowable composition includes (a) a room-temperature-solid solute, such as a nonionic surfactant, preferably having a hydrophile-lipophile balance from about 11.1 to about 18.4, a (ii) C8-C14 fatty acid, or combinations thereof; (b) an alkoxylated fatty alkanolamide; and (c) water, if needed. The alkoxylated fatty alkanolamide, which is substantially liquid at room temperature, solvates the solid solute to form a homogeneous composition which is liquid and readily flowable at room temperature. The select classes of nonionic surfactants include polyalkylene oxide carboxylic acid esters, ethoxylated fatty alcohols, poloxamers, alkyl polysaccharides, or combinations thereof. Useful alkoxylated fatty alkanolamides include propoxylated fatty ethanolamides.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a softener composition which contains a softening base having an excellent softening effect and satisfactory biodegradability. That is, the present invention provides the softener composition which comprises (A) a nonionic compound which has at least one C5-36 alkyl or alkenyl group and an amide bond but contains no dissociative group of amino or carboxyl group; and (B) at least one member selected among (B-α) cationic or ampholytic surfactants having one C5-36 alkyl or alkenyl group or one optionally substituted aryl group and (B-β) amino compounds having at least one C5-36 alkyl or alkenyl group and salts of the compounds.
Abstract:
A non-toxic enzymatic detergent for use in cleaning surgical instruments and the 1 like which have a large build-up of bio-residue thereon and which need specialty cleaning in order to avoid both hardened bio-residue and certain fluid traces from the instruments for both operating accuracy as well as sterilization requirements.
Abstract:
Surfactant compounds are claimed which consists essentially of a) fatty alcohol alkoxylates, b) amorphous silica, c) a carrier material and optionally d) an assistant.
Abstract:
Compositions for treating fabric articles, especially articles of clothing, linens and drapery, wherein the compositions provide improved cleaning of soils from and/or care of and/or treatment of fabric articles, especially while providing superior garment care for articles sensitive to water as compared to conventional fabric article treating compositions, are provided.
Abstract:
Clear/translucent formulations comprise polyquaternary ammonium actives with lower, or no, solvent levels except the solvent which is normally present in the polyquaternary raw material stocks by choosing highly efficient solvents within a specific Clog P range, employing higher levels of polyquaternary ammonium, actives, and/or augmenting the bilayer with surfactants and/or polar oils. Compositions with lowered solvent levels have at or below about 5% by volume of secondary dispersed phases preferably below about 3% by volume of secondary dispersed phase, and more preferably 1% by volume of secondary dispersed phases. The most preferred compositions are essentially free of secondary dispersed phases. High-speed centrifugation easily and quickly reveals the % volume of secondary phase(s).
