A method for producing an electrolyte emulsion, the method including: Step (1) in which an ethylenic fluoromonomer and a fluorovinyl compound having an SO2Z1 group, wherein Z1 is a halogen element, are copolymerized at a polymerization temperature of 0° C. or higher and 40° C. or lower to provide a precursor emulsion containing a fluoropolymer electrolyte precursor; and Step (2) in which a basic reactive liquid is added to the precursor emulsion and the fluoropolymer electrolyte precursor is chemically treated, whereby an electrolyte emulsion with a fluoropolymer electrolyte dispersed therein is provided, wherein the electrolyte emulsion has an equivalent weight (EW) of 250 or more and 700 or less.

Compositions comprising fluoroelastomers having copolymerized units of a cyano-containing cure site monomer are cured (i.e. crosslinked) with a fluoropolymer having pendant sulfonyl azide groups. The latter fluoropolymer comprises copolymerized units of a fluoroalkanesulfonyl azide of formula CF2═CF—(O)p—Rf—(CH2)n—SO2N3, wherein p=0 or 1; n=0-4; and Rf is a C1-C16 perfluoroalkyl or perfluoroalkoxy group. The crosslinks are tetrazole rings formed by the reaction of the pendant sulfonyl azide groups on the fluoropolymer with pendant cyano groups on the fluoroelastomer.

The present invention provides a dripping inhibitor including a modified polytetrafluoroethylene, the inhibitor having an average particle size of 300 to 800 μm, an apparent density of 0.40 to 0.52 g/ml, a compression ratio of 1.20 or less, an aggregate disintegration degree with 50-sec vibration of 70% or more, a cylinder extrusion pressure at a reduction ratio 1500 of 80 MPa or less, and a standard specific gravity (SSG) of 2.140 to 2.230.

Disclosed are novel phthalate compounds and a simple and economical route to covalently attach a phthalate ester mimic to PVC is described, allowing plasticization of PVC without the danger of Endocrine Disruption Chemicals leaching from the polymer matrix. An azide-alkyne Husigen cycloaddition (in the absences of copper catalyst) using dialkyl acetylenedicarboxylates allows this cycloaddition to occur under very mild thermal conditions.

A composition for a wire coating member having flame retardancy that is heat resistant and productive without using electron irradiation crosslinking, and an insulated wire and a wiring harness having the same. The insulated wire includes a wire coating member containing the composition for the wire coating member that contains water-crosslinkable polyolefin containing polyolefin that is modified by a silane coupling agent, unmodified polyolefin, modified polyolefin that is modified by a functional group, a bromine flame retardant, a cross-linking catalyst, a phenolic antioxidant, and either one of a zinc sulfide, and a zinc oxide and an imidazole compound. The insulated wire is prepared by extrusion-coating a conductor with the composition to form the wire coating member around the conductor, and the wire coating member is water-crosslinked.

Methods are provided to make acid functional fluoropolymers by: a) dehydrofluorinating a starting fluoropolymer with a dehydrofluorinating agent to form an unsaturated fluoropolymer; b) adding an acidifiable nucleophilic functionalizing agent to a double bond of the unsaturated fluoropolymer; and c) acidifying the added acidifiable function. Acid functional fluoropolymers and ion conducting membranes thereof are also provided, including acid functional fluoropolymer having pendent groups according to the formula: —X—Ar-An, wherein X is selected from O, S or NR, where R is selected from H and C1-C30 alkyl or aryl, which are optionally substituted, wherein Ar is a C6-C30 aromatic group, which is optionally substituted, wherein A is an acidic function or salt thereof, wherein a can be independently chosen to be 1, 2 or 3.
