摘要: The present invention discloses a process to treat a ferrite based catalyst useful in the oxidative dehydrogenation of monololefins and diolefins which process includes a preheat step prior to use of the catalyst in the OXO-D reactor. The catalyst is preferably a zinc ferrite catalyst for the production of butadiene. It has been observed that substantially no nitrogen oxide emissions result from the use of this treated catalyst in the reactor unit during the oxidative dehydrogenation reaction.

摘要: A process for co-producing para-xylene and styrene from a feed (1) of hydrocarbons containing xylenes and ethylbenzene is described, the process comprising the following succession of steps: a step for separating the feed in a simulated moving bed in an adsorption column (6) containing beds of an adsorbent, from which an extract that is rich in para-xylene (7a) of at least 99.7% purity and at least one raffinate (7b) containing ethylbenzene, ortho-xylene, meta-xylene and a very small quantity of para-xylene is withdrawn; a step for dehydrogenating (10) the ethylbenzene contained in the raffinate (7b) to styrene; at least one step for primary separation of the stream (11) from the dehydrogenation step (10), to eliminate by-products; a step for separating the purified mixture (18) derived from the stream (11) containing styrene, unconverted ethylbenzene, meta-xylene and ortho-xylene, from which a stream (21a) that is rich in styrene of at least 99.8% purity and a stream (21b) containing unconverted ethylbenzene, meta-xylene and ortho-xylene is withdrawn; and a step for isomerising the stream (21b), the effluent being recycled to the adsorption column (6).

摘要: In a multi-step process, dixylylpropane is obtained inter alia via the hitherto unknown 1,2-dimethyl-4-(.alpha.-chloroisopropyl)benzene, the readily accessible compounds o-xylene and propene being employed as starting compounds. The process yields the desired compound in high yield and isomer purity and is distinguished by a small amount of by-products. It is therefore particularly suitable for further processing without problems. The process involves the sequence of (a) Friedel-Crafts alkylation of ortho-xylene with propylene, (b) dehydrogenation of the isoproplyxlene into isopropenylxylene, (c) which is then hydrochlorinated into chloroisopropylxylene, (d) and then alkylated with a second ortho-xylene modecule to obtain the final product dixylylpropane.

摘要: A method for oligomerizing olefins in the presence of boron trifluoride and a co-catalyst comprising a heterogeneous cationic ion exchange resin catalyst is described. While the resin catalyst cannot oligomerize olefins by itself at temperatures around 75.degree.-85.degree. C., when used together with boron trifluoride an oligomer mixture may be created which has improved properties over oligomers made over only boron trifluoride. If a resin catalyst is used, a protonic promoter is not required.
