A transport-monitoring module for monitoring a transport of a transport unit of a passenger-transportation device is arranged on the transport unit. The transport-monitoring module has a sensor and localization devices. During the transport, through an interface unit, a connection with a data memory of the device is created. The interface unit is configured so that transport-monitoring data that are to be stored, which are based on sensor data of the sensor and localization data of the localization devices, are permanently stored in the data memory. In this way, the transport-monitoring module is simplified, so that it is no longer an item that is worth stealing. In addition, a reliable access to the stored transport-monitoring data after the end of the transport is secured.

The present invention relates to a machinery brake for an elevator. The machinery brake comprises a frame part comprising an electromagnet and an armature part, wherein the machinery brake further comprising an inductive proximity sensor mounted to one of the following: the frame part, the armature part and a target mounted to the other of the following: the frame part, armature part. The inductive proximity sensor and the target are mounted with respect to each other so that in a normal state of the machinery brake the target resides within an operational area of the inductive proximity sensor and in an abnormal state of the machinery brake the target resides at least partly outside the operational area of the inductive proximity sensor. The invention relates to a method in rope condition monitoring of an elevator, in which method at least the following steps are performed: elevator suspension and/or transmission ropes are reeled and packed on a rope storage unit, and thereafter electrical resistance between a first point and a second point of elevator suspension and/or transmission ropes is measured first time, and thereafter a threshold value is determined based on the measurement, and thereafter rope is delivered into an installation site, and thereafter electrical resistance between the first point and the second point of said suspension and/or transmission ropes is measured second time, and thereafter results of said second time measurement are compared with said threshold value, and if said second time measurement meets said threshold value, predetermined actions are carried out. The invention also relates to an arrangement in rope condition monitoring of an elevator.

Loose joints and other defects, such as manufacturing, installation, wearing and other similar defects, are hard to find. Especially in case of passenger elevator it is crucial to find these defects in order to produce safe elevators. Testing can be done using a special test signal that is formed by combining an excitement signal with movement control signal. The test signal causes purposively pulsating or oscillating movement of the elevator car that deviates from the ordinary movement of the elevator. This movement causes noises from loose joints and other defects. The sources of these noises can then be located and the defects can be fixed.
