    Abstract: The invention relates to a method for removing defects on a stationary web of a packaging material (106), comprising moving said web of packaging material (106) through a repair line from a first rotatable roller (121) to a second rotatable roller (122) in a first direction, cutting off said web of packaging material (106) at a first predetermined position, guiding said web of packaging material (106) of said first roller (121) into a second direction, wasting said web of packaging material (106) of said first roller (121) by movement in said second direction to a waste station, cutting off said web of packaging material (106) of said first roller (121) at a second predetermined position, guiding said web of packaging material (106) of said first roller (121) back into said first direction, splicing said web of packaging material (106) of said first roller (121) back together with said web of packaging material (106) of said second roller (122) at said first predetermined position, wherein said method is automated.     Abstract: Devices, methods, and systems for splicing a trailing edge of an outgoing roll with a leading edge of a replacement roll with a lapless butt splice on-the-fly during converting and printing production. A first strip of adhesive tape may be placed partially under the leading edge, such that a portion of the adhesive tape remains exposed beyond the leading edge. The replacement roll may be accelerated to match the speed of the outgoing web's movement, a trailing edge of the outgoing web may be cut free from the outgoing roll, and the trailing edge of the outgoing roll may be positioned over the exposed portion of the adhesive tape. A second strip of adhesive tape may be applied over the leading edge and trailing edge using a splicer roller timed to apply the tape when the edges pass proximate to the splicer roller.

    Abstract: A splicing tape for accurately aligning and joining spliced component carrier reels is disclosed. The flexible splice tape allows the components to remain aligned and picked from a component carrier reel without interruption at the union of a first and second reel. The splice tape with an optional stiffening strip provides a flexible, yet strong connection to prevent back and forth, axial and lateral movement between spliced reels. The detection of the disclosed splice tape facilitates elimination of incorrect and mismatched components during splicing. The splice tape comprises a plastic-type material coated on one side with a pressure-sensitive adhesive composition. A protective paper covers the adhesive composition. The splice tape and protective paper are divided into sections using a staggered slit arrangement. The staggered slit arrangement aids in proper alignment and adhesion of the splice tape to component carrier reels.

    Abstract: A sheet roll comprises two glass films and a coupling portion, wherein end portions of the glass films are coupled together via the coupling portion and the coupled glass films are rolled into a roll shape.     Abstract: A tape connecting apparatus for connecting a brass buckle to remaining and unused tapes, includes a support base, a platform, a support pillar, and a clamp device including a tape connecting base and a tape connecting clamp. The platform is disposed on the support base. The support pillar rotatably stands on the platform. The tape connecting base is detachably disposed at a top end of the support pillar. The tape connecting clamp has upper and lower handles respectively pivoted to the tape connecting base. The upper handle has a clamp head and is pivoted to the lower handle. When the brass buckle, the remaining tape and the unused tape are positioned on the tape connecting base, the upper and lower handles are rotated relatively to drive the clamp head to press the brass buckle, so that the unused tape could be connected to the remaining tape via the brass buckle.
