摘要: An apparatus and methods are provided for a chassis for an off-road vehicle that includes a roll cage chassis structural spine. The chassis is a welded-tube variety of chassis that includes a front portion and a rear portion that are joined to an intervening passenger cabin portion. The roll cage chassis spine includes a front canopy and a rear canopy comprising an overhead spine to the chassis that increases the strength of the chassis and improves the safety of occupants within the vehicle. The rear canopy couples to the rear portion of the chassis, and the front canopy couples to the front portion of the chassis and the rear canopy. The front canopy and the rear canopy are configured to cooperatively reinforce the chassis during loading forces on the front portion due to front struts and loading forces on the rear portion due to rear struts.

摘要: One general aspect includes a deployable containment system for a vehicle roof panel, the system including: a pair of guide channels proximate to an opening through the vehicle roof panel, each guide channel of the pair having a first end and a second end; a housing mounted to the first end of the pair of guide channels. The deployable containment system also includes a shield configured to deploy from the housing and travel along the pair of guide channels so as to cover at least a portion of the opening. The deployable containment system also includes an actuator disposed proximate to the pair of guide channels, the actuator configured to deploy the shield from the housing after a deployment event.

摘要: The invention consists of various embodiments of a system that uses electromechanical means to alert a vehicle operator of an imminent vehicle roll-over and protect the operator in a roll-over event. The system uses an electronics control unit (ECU) that is able to detect the deflection angle of the vehicle's tilt with the horizontal. If this angle exceeds a certain amount, the operator is alerted of the increased risk of roll-over via haptic feedback whereby the ECU controls a seatbelt electromechanical system to create a haptic feedback alert to the operator. If the angle exceeds a second higher amount, the system braces the operator for a roll-over event by tightening the seatbelt, thereby better protecting the operator. The fact that the system is electromechanical, instead of pyrotechnical, makes the system reusable. Another embodiment of the invention comprises a safety process used by the ECU to alert and protect the operator. By conducting this procedure, the ECU is able to detect when a critical angle has been exceeded by the vehicle and what response is appropriate for the circumstance.

摘要: A work vehicle includes a frame assembly and an attachment assembly. The attachment assembly has an attachment end pivotally connected to the frame assembly and a distal end configured for receiving a variable load. At least one force sensor senses at least one force associated with the attachment end. The at least one force sensor provides an output signal representing the sensed at least one force. An inclination sensor senses an inclination associated with the frame assembly and provides an output signal representing the sensed inclination. An electrical processing circuit is configured for receiving the output signal from the at least one force sensor, determining a value of a couple at the frame assembly which is associated with the sensed at least one force, comparing the couple with a threshold value which is dependent on the sensed inclination, and controlling the controllable output dependent on the comparison.
