    摘要: Fastener tape fabrication equipment and process for manufacturing fastener tape for attachment in an opening in the top of a reclosable plastic bag. A continuous strip of intermediate layer for carrying a continuous strip of profile fastener is provided from a delivery assembly with a constant tension to an applicator assembly. A pair of laterally spaced adhesive surfaces are also carried upon the intermediate layer. The intermediate layer passes over a generally V-shaped member, mounted upon the delivery assembly, in order to be folded. The profile is inserted into the fold of the intermediate layer. Circumferentially grooved wheels then align the profile with the intermediate layer as the intermediate layer and profile are directed into a plurality of sealing bars upon the applicator assembly to form the fastener tape. A first set of sealing bars seal the profile to the intermediate layer and a second set of sealing bars seal the adhesive surfaces together to form a peel seal on the intermediate layer. The resulting fastener tape is then collected on a windup roll.

    摘要: A tamper evident package includes a closure arrangement having a lockable orientation and an unlockable orientation. The lockable orientation includes a first closure member secured to a first package wall, and a second closure member secured to a second package wall. Preferably, the first closure member is secured to the first wall with a peelable sealing arrangement. The unlockable orientation includes the first closure member being separated or peeled from the first wall. The closure arrangement is transformed from the lockable orientation to the unlockable orientation in response to a pulling force separating the first closure member from the first wall. In some arrangements, the peelable sealing arrangement is pigmented to provide a visual indication that the package has been opened after an initial sealing of the closure arrangement. Methods for constructing and using a flexible package are provided herein.

    摘要: A reclosable fastener assembly comprising a first fastener strip, a second fastener strip and a slider. The first fastener strip has an inner surface and an outer surface, including at least an uppermost closure element and a bottommost closure element positioned along the length of the inner surface. The second fastener strip has an inner surface and an outer surface, including at least an uppermost closure element and a bottommost closure element positioned along the length of the inner surface. The closure elements along the second fastener strip are adapted to engage with the closure elements along the first fastener strip, thereby interlocking the second fastener strip with the first fastener strip. The slider has a top and side walls depending from opposite sides of the top for receiving the fastener strips therebetween, the side walls extending downward from the top to a point below the uppermost closure elements, so that at least a portion of the fastener strips are held between the side walls. The side walls also extend from a separating end of the slider to a pinching end. Pinching means are positioned proximate to the pinching end. The slider also includes a separating leg depending from the top between the first and second side walls at the separating end of the slider. The separating leg penetrates at least one of the uppermost closure elements of the first or second fastener strips, but not the bottommost closure elements.

    摘要: A zipper for a recloseable bag provides a heat-settable portion for adhering the zipper to a polymeric bag at a temperature below that known in the art in order to prevent permanently sealing the bag closed inadvertantly. The zipper includes elongated base strips having flange portions for adhering the inner surface of the base strip to the outer surface of a polymeric bag. The base strip is adhered to the polymeric bag by a heat-setting compound coextruded, coated or laminated to the inner surface of the flange. The flange portions may be thinner than other portions of the base strips to permit the flange portions to be fused to the polymeric bag at a lower temperature than previously practiced.

    摘要: A reclosable standup bag and a method for manufacturing the bag. The bag includes opposing top and bottom panel assemblies. The top panel assembly includes first and second opposing fins having upper edge portions that define a mouth opening. Opposing front and back wall panels extend between the top and bottom panel assemblies. First and second opposing gusseted side wall panels couple and bridge the side edges of the front and back wall panels, defining four wall corners. A resealable closing assembly is coupled to the upper edge portion of the fins. The method for manufacturing the bag includes providing a lay flat web of a flexible packaging material and cutting comer reliefs at the location of the upper side corners of the bag. The lay flat web is run over a forming tube to create a duct-shaped cylinder with overlapping side edges. The side edges are joined and are fin sealed to form a tube having a bottom opening and a top opening. Side gussets are formed, centered about the die cut corner reliefs, leaving the two fins extending along either side of the corner reliefs and over the top opening of the tube. The side edges of each gusset and the bottom opening are sealed. The bottom portion of the tube is folded to form a generally flat bottom portion. A reclosable closing assembly is coupled to the upper edge portions of the first fin and the second fin.

    摘要: A method of and apparatus for making, and the resulting material for fabricating reclosable bags and in which a length of web of predetermined width of bag material as wound on a mandrel has fastener strip sections joined to and across the width of the web. The web is adapted to travel continuously spirally about the mandrel. The fastener carrying web may be folded longitudinally and resiliently flexible profiles of the folded fastener strip sections separably joined. Ends of the fastener strips before, and after, folding may be flow melted and fusedly flattened. Ends of the fastener strips may be aligned with a fold juncture of an underturned flange of the web and the margin then unfolded to extend beyond the strip ends.
