A pipe-lining material comprises a tubular resin absorbent material impregnated with a photo-curing resin or a thermosetting resin mixed therewith. A tubular shading film is thermally fused and bonded to the external peripheral surface of the tubular resin absorbent material. In such a structure, the entire external peripheral surface of the tubular resin absorbent material is covered with the shading film, preventing the photo-curing resin impregnated in the tubular resin absorbent material from being accidentally exposed to and cured with external light, and the shading film from deviating in position relative to the tubular resin absorbent material. The shading film can easily be obtained by adding a color pigment to a polyethylene film or other highly airtight plastic film when this plastic film is being produced. Therefore, the conventionally used coating step involving the use of a plastic film can be directly used to produce a pipe-lining material having high shading characteristics.

The polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) or copolymer thereof used to produce one-piece intraocular lenses is modified by a compression molding process to produce a much tougher material with improved mechanical properties. The process takes material in rod form and compresses into lens blanks. The molded lens blanks receive little or no compression strain in the center 4 mm optic zone. The compression is limited to the periphery region outside the center 4 mm zone. The intraocular lens fabricated from the molded lens blank exhibits greatly increased haptic mechanical properties and resistance to breakage.

A golf club includes a straight shaft and a metallic member having a first end connected to the lower end of the shaft. The other end of the metallic member is bent to define an obtuse angle with the first end. In a preferred form, a flat metallic stiffener plate is welded or otherwise affixed to one side of the metallic member. These portions are placed in a suitable mold into which polyurethane is admitted, and heat is differentially applied to or removed from the various surfaces of the mold in order that the polyurethane solidifies to form a substantially flat striking layer of dense integral-skin polyurethane juxtaposed against the stiffener plate remote from the metallic member, and a back cushion enclosing the stiffener plate and all of the metallic member. The back cushion is thicker than the striking layer, and is of polyurethane less dense than that of the striking layer. Preferably, the stiffener plate has marginal portions extending beyond the metallic member, and these marginal portions have apertures through which the polyurethane of the striking layer can integrally bond with the polyurethane of the back cushion.
