摘要: A method is provided for the internal processing of a transparent substrate in preparation for a cleaving step. The substrate is irradiated with a focused laser beam that is comprised of pulses having an energy and pulse duration selected to produce a filament within the substrate. The substrate is translated relative to the laser beam to irradiate the substrate and produce an additional filament at one or more additional locations. The resulting filaments form an array defining an internally scribed path for cleaving said substrate. Laser beam parameters may be varied to adjust the filament length and position, and to optionally introduce V-channels or grooves, rendering bevels to the laser-cleaved edges. Preferably, the laser pulses are delivered in a burst train for lowering the energy threshold for filament formation and increasing the filament length.

摘要: A configurable device includes a body, driveshaft, plate and driver. The body includes a receptacle, recess, and axial bore. The receptacle is disposed about the bore, and the recess is disposed below and in communication with the receptacle. The receptacle is to receive a pasta strand and communicate a portion of the strand into the recess. The driveshaft includes a first portion and second portion. The first portion extends through the bore, and the second portion extends into the recess. The plate is secured to the second portion and includes a surface having a radial projection extending toward the recess. The planar surface is to abut the portion of the strand in the recess. The driver has an axial opening to removeably engage the first portion. The driver is enabled to rotate the driveshaft that in turn rotates the plate causing the projection to break the portion of the strand.

摘要: A method is described for obtaining a plurality of laminae, made of a material having known optical transparency characteristics, from an ingot made of the material, the ingot having an axis of symmetry (X), the method comprising: creating, in the ingot by use of a pulsed laser beam, a plurality of sacrificial layers with modified structure, the plurality of sacrificial layers being distributed along the axis of symmetry (X), the plurality of sacrificial layers dividing the ingot in a plurality of residual layers; subjecting the plurality of sacrificial layers to chemical etching, thereby causing a separation of the residual layers; and detaching the residual layers to produce the plurality of laminae made of the material.

摘要: A drywall or similar planar material cutting tool is provided that aids in the achieving of clean and square cuts with minimal debris and/or breakage to the drywall material edge. The apparatus defines a generally J-shaped engagement channel, or combinations of J-shaped channels, to engage the edge of a drywall sheet, and a centrally affixed handle located perpendicular to the bottom surface of the J-channel and generally in a parallel plane to the drywall sheet being cut. The unique configuration allows pressure applied to the handle to be uniformly transferred to the J-channel which, in turn, applies a uniformly distributed shear force. The applied force is perpendicular to the plane of the drywall sheet and, at all times, parallel to the pre-applied score mark thereby resulting in a clean snap break of the board with an improved edge quality.
