Abstract: A protein functionalized anti-inflammatory nanoparticle and a method of preparing the protein functionalized anti-inflammatory nanoparticle is disclosed. The protein functionalized anti-inflammatory nanoparticle includes a central core comprising a hyaluronic acid coated chitosan nanoparticle and surface adsorbed anti-inflammatory proteins forming an outer shell around the central core, wherein the surface adsorbed anti-inflammatory protein is AGP (alpha-1-acid glycoprotein). The method of preparation includes dispersing chitosan nanoparticles in acetic acid/acetate buffer to produce a dispersion, adding an equal amount of acetate buffer containing hyaluronic acid under vigorous stirring to form hyaluronic coated chitosan nanoparticle (HA-CS) and functionalizing the hyaluronic coated chitosan nanoparticle with surface adsorbing anti-inflammatory protein AGP, to form the protein functionalized anti-inflammatory nanoparticle.

Abstract: Methods and compositions for the adsorptive removal of methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) from contaminated water sources and systems. The compositions contain acid-treated fly ash particles containing carbon, oxygen, and sulfur, and silver oxide nanoparticles having diameters in a range of 1-10 nm such that the silver oxide nanoparticles are present on the surface and in pore spaces of the acid-treated fly ash particles. The composition is in the form of particles having sizes in a range of 100 nm to 2.5 μm. Methods of preparing and characterizing the adsorbents are also provided.

Abstract: A 3D structure of the graphite-titanium-nanocomposite complex and a method of preparing the graphite-titanium-nanocomposite complex are disclosed. The Graphite-titanium-nanocomposite complex includes a metal core associated with the two phases, amine functionalized graphite, and amine functionalized titanium. The method of preparation includes amine functionalizing of graphite and titanium with coupling agents to produce amine functionalized titanium and graphite, further mixing with a metal ion solution for synthesizing an ion complex. Trisodium citrate solution and sodium borohydride solution is added to the ion complex to prepare a 3D structure of the graphite-titanium-nanocomposite complex, employed as a catalyst.

Abstract: Described herein are double-strand chain compositions suitable for use in the preparation of proton conductive membranes. The double-strand chains comprise a plurality of constitutional units joined to each other through two atoms on one side of the constitutional unit and two atoms on the other side of the constitutional unit. Constitutional units comprise a dibenzo-crown ether macrocycle fused with a bicyclic aliphatic linker. Polymers, membranes, and fuel cells comprising the double-strand chain are also described herein.
