摘要: A drill press has variable speed drive via belts on stepped pulleys that transfer rotational force from the motor to the drill press spindle. Three stepped pulleys connected by two belts are provided in the example. A belt tension roller is bears against one of the belts to provide tension for effective power transfer from the motor to the spindle. The belt tension roller is adjustable along an arcuate slot in an anchor plate and is fastenable in position by an adjustment knob on the belt tension roller. The middle pulley is mounted to vary its position so that tension adjustments on one belt by the belt tension roller result in tension adjustments on the second belt as well.

摘要: Process and apparatus for operating an apparatus to drill holes in the shell of a paper machine cylinder. The apparatus includes a stationary framework supportable on the paper machine, a feed frame that is radially movable along the stationary framework relative to the shell, and a drive unit. A plurality of drilling modules are coupled to the feed frame, which are rotatable via the drive unit, and the drilling modules include a drive shaft, at least two spindle heads, and at least two intermediate shafts arranged between the drive shaft and the at least two spindle heads, in which at least one of the at least two spindle heads in each drilling module is rotatable about a respective intermediate shaft of the drilling modules. The process includes rotating at least one of the at least two spindle heads about a respective intermediate shaft of the drilling module arranged between a drive shaft and the at least one spindle head, such that a mutual distance between spindle shaft centers of the at least two spindle heads in the drilling modules is adjusted.

摘要: A machine for fastening rail plates to cross-ties, utilizing spikes or the like, and method therefore, is disclosed in the present invention. The preferred apparatus of the present invention teaches a system wherein there is provided a conveyor for conveying a plurality of laterally arranged, juxtaposed ties in bulk, a loader or retriever for loading a single tie upon a template conveyer, and a positioner for positioning the single tie during the pre-plating process. The present invention further includes a template system for securing the cross-tie or tie in place, feeding and positioning the rail-plate in place, feeding, dispensing, and positioning the spikes in place, driving the spikes, and discharging the processed tie, the template system utilizing as a principle motive force the displacement of the template reciprocating drive piston for positioning the template, as well as dispensing and positioning the spikes and plates.

摘要: An apparatus is disclosed for forming bores in articles, such as lumber studs which includes a conveyor operable for transporting the studs to a work station. Disposed adjacent the work station is a charging mechanism operable for isolating a predetermined course of the studs from the conveyor at the work station and maintaining the course substantially stationary. Drill sets are mounted on the charger and beneath the course and are operable for selectively shifting vertically upwardly for drilling bores in the course. The charger includes a carriage assembly which is disposed beneath the conveyor selectively operable for reciprocal vertical shifting to lift the course from the conveyor and return the course thereto. The drills are rigidly mounted on the carriage assembly and are moveable therewith. Additionally, the carriage assembly is provided with a lift element which is mounted thereon by means of a resilient mounting. The upper surface of the lift element is normally biased above the penetrating ends of the drills.

摘要: This hand tool is a portable tool, to be used on a construction site to drill pilot holes for the standard 41/2" hinge used on doors in the majority of commercial buildings. It's light-weight, small and powered by any 3/8" drill motor. Base of tool is used to align the drills in place on the routed out section of door or jamb. The 4 hole configuration the tool has is a standard location used by the main door hinge manufacturers. The main advantage of the tool is the accuracy of the holes drilled. The labor time is cut by 75% over the old conventional way of drilling the holes in the hard wood one at a time for the accommodation of the screws that hold the hinge in place.

摘要: A multiple spindle cluster assembly for use in association with a core drilling machine to drill a plurality of holes simultaneously in a glass sheet. A pair of such identical cluster assemblies are located on opposite sides of the sheet with the respective pairs of opposed spindles axially aligned. The respective drills are fed alternatingly into the sheet to a depth less than the thickness of the glass. Each assembly includes an adapter and at least one spindle clamp attachable to the adapter to support the spindles in parallel alignment and in a predetermined pattern and spacing relative to one another. The spindles are adjustable in an axial direction relative to one another to position the drill tips in a common plane parallel to the plane of the glass sheet.
