Abstract:
A drilling module for creating multiple drill holes in a component is disclosed. The drilling module includes several drilling units and a basic frame having a displacement device for displacing the drilling units in a first direction. The displacement device is configured such that the drilling units can be arranged displaceably on the basic frame in a second direction differing from the first direction. A drilling device unit for arrangement on a vehicle is also disclosed.
Abstract:
A machine tool is provided, in particular for the synchronous machining of workpieces. The tool includes two or more spindle units (2, 3), which run parallel in a machining unit and are designed to hold workpieces and repositioning devices for the precise adjustment of the position of the spindle units (2, 3) in relation to one another, preferably in all three directions x, y and z of the orthogonal co-ordinate system in the machining unit (4). The repositioning devices for displacing at least one of the spindle units (2, 3), at least in an x and/or y direction, include an eccentric bush (5, 6), which can be rotated about a central shaft (B1, B2) and locked and in which the spindle units (2, 3) are mounted eccentrically, parallel to the central shaft (B1, B2).
Abstract:
An apparatus for making temporary road mats characterized by multiple layers of mutually perpendicular elongated timbers having an array of vertical intersections aligned in lateral rows. The apparatus includes a gang drill that moves relative to a roughly assembled mat for sequentially drilling the lateral rows of intersections.
Abstract:
A high throughput drilling system for printed circuit board hole formation. Two spindles are disposed at each spindle station, doubling the number of holes produced in a given time period. Each spindle in connected to an overhead linear drive by a mini slide. A first set of the spindles, one for each spindle station, is driven by a first X axis linear drive. A second set is driven by a second X axis linear drive. The work piece table is elongated to support work pieces for all stations, and is supported by a set of bearing guides, with outrigger bearings coupled to the table by flexure mounts that relieve stress due to differential temperature expansion rates between the work piece table and the base table. High speed spindles are employed to obtain higher productivity, with larger holes routed by router tools, eliminating the need for stocking large drill sizes on the system tool changer.
Abstract:
An end effector adapted for attachment to and accurate positioning by a robot is provided for positioning a right angle shaped workpiece at a desired position against a panel and drilling a pair of accurately located positioning holes through the workpiece and the panel. The end effector includes a rear plate having a conventional tool connector and adapter that can be grasped and manipulated by the robot. A frame is cantilevered on the rear plate and supports a shuttle mounted on horizontal linear bearings for lateral motion of the shuttle. A pair of vertical bearings on the shuttle supports two horizontal support plates for vertical motion on the shuttle. A drill and an inserter are mounted on the support plates for lateral motion with the shuttle, and for vertical motion on the shuttle. Two servomotors under control of a system controller control the lateral motion of the shuttle and the vertical motion of the support plates, and a linear motion encoder provides feedback to the controller to attain accurate positioning of the support plates and the drills mounted thereon.
Abstract:
A hand-held automatic drilling machine includes an expandable locating collet or locating pin, a pair of adjustably mounted drill bits for simultaneously drilling a pair of spaced-apart openings in a workpiece and a rotary drive motor for the drill bits. The machine also includes a first drive assembly for activating the expandable collet and a second drive assembly for advancing the drill bits into the workpiece. An adjustable dashpot provides resistance to the second drive assembly, thereby controlling the force applied to the drill bits and thus the feed rate. A bi-stable control valve commences the drilling cycle in one state and sequentially activates the first drive assembly and the second drive assembly. A full depth sensor moves the control valve to the opposite state, sequentially deactivating the second drive assembly and the first drive assembly.
Abstract:
A header machine for drilling specified hole patterns in pipe and for cutting the pipe to a specified length to form headers for use in heat transfer products. The header machine includes hold clamps for selectively holding the pipe during the processing of the pipe and feed clamps for selectively holding the pipe during the feeding thereof through the header machine. The feed clamps are mounted on a feed carriage which is movably mounted for movement forwardly and rearwardly. The feed carriage is driven by a stepper motor operably coupled to the feed carriage for moving the feed carriage and the pipe endwise to various drilling positions. The header machine also includes a spud drill for drilling spud holes in the pipe, a connection drill for drilling connection holes in the pipe, a circular saw for cutting the pipe to a specified length, and provisions for making double circuit patterns of the spud hole. The various movements of the components of the machine are computer controlled and with data concerning the parameters of the header to be processed being entered by the operator into the keyboard of the computer which automatically writes a program for controlling such movements of the components.
