    摘要: This invention concerns an active reconfigurable stretch forming tool, and in another aspect the invention is a method of stretch forming. The tool comprises an array of extensible shape forming elements which are driven in extension to produce the same force per unit area across a workpiece during shape forming. An array of limit switches are located in front of the array of shape forming elements, such that each shape forming element is driven in extension towards a respective limit switch during shape forming. In use, each limit switch is activated by the workpiece as it is shaped and each switch, upon activation, prevents further extension of the respective driven element. The tool and method are useful in the forming of three dimensional shapes in solid sheet metal or mesh, to produce panels for reflector antennas.

    摘要: A method of making a solar reflector from a flat rectangular sheet of reflecting material into a substantially a parabolic cross-sectional shape to form a part of a solar heat collecting system wherein the reflector is supported to concentrate the rays of the sun on a pipe through which liquid is circulated including bending permanently the sheet material along its longitudinal center line to give the two half portions thereof a minor angle with respect to a horizontal plane, bending the longitudinal edges back upon themselves to form slotted hook portions along the longitudinal edges of the sheet material and bending the two half portions toward each other below the breaking point of their elasticity to receive the longitudinal edges of a translucent plate in the slots of the hook portions whereby the parts are held in assembly.

    摘要: A prefinished curved reflector suitable for use in recessed lighting, downlighting, head lamps, and tail lamps is made from metal sheet, preferably an aluminum alloy sheet. An outer surface of the metal sheet is either anodized, laminated, or polymer coated to provide desired appearance and performance. Surprisingly, the metal sheet retains its reflectivity and resistance to corrosion even after deformation into a curved reflector.

    摘要: In a method of forming a rim on a lamp reflector, a forming roller is positioned on one side of the reflector rim to be formed and a support roller is positioned on the other side. The reflector is rotated about its center axis and the rollers are rotated with the same circumferential speed as the reflector rim. Then the rollers are moved such relative to each other and to the reflector that the rim is flanged between the rollers. The forming roller is moved such that the final tangent line of the circumferential face of this roller to the reflector rim is tilted about a pivot point which is positioned substantially on the bending line of the reflector rim. The invention also includes an apparatus for performing this method.
