摘要: A process for coating carrier particles with inhalable drug guest particles, the process including providing an apparatus including a processing vessel having solid walls defining a chamber for receiving the particles and adding the particles to the chamber. Next, the cylindrical processing vessel is rotated about an axis to impart a centrifugal force of between 10 and 2100 g on the particles. Further a process coats carrier particles with guest particles, wherein the carrier particles include a material or a drug and wherein the guest particles include a solubility/dissolution controlling agent.

摘要: A method and apparatus are defined for coating a particulate material. The apparatus includes a mixer having a mixing chamber. A quantity of particulate material is fed into an inlet of the mixing chamber. An agitator is provided for mixing and conveying the particulate material. A feed system is also provided for delivery of a coating into the mixing chamber. The coating is delivered as an atomized spray directed at the mixing particulate material within the mixing chamber. A controller is provided for adjusting the flow of the coating into the mixing chamber based on the volumetric feed rate of the particulate material.

摘要: Apparatus and methods for coating particulates to suppress dust and/or modify the behavior of the particulate, spray the coating onto the particulate as it moves along inclined surfaces within the coater apparatus. The coating is sprayed generally as a mist and the particulates remain free-flowing throughout the apparatus and when discharged therefrom. Apparatus using a single spray step and subsequent transfer coating steps to effect particulate-to-particulate transfer of coating achieve at least about 75% coating of the particulate. Embodiments of the apparatus with dual spray steps and without the subsequent transfer coating steps are capable of achieving at least 85% coating of particulates with a single pass through the apparatus.

摘要: A process gas (such as a hydrocarbon gas) is flowed through a thermal cracking apparatus to crack the process gas into constituent components (such as hydrogen gas and solid carbon nano-particles, e.g., carbon nano-onions, necked carbon nano-onions, carbon nanospheres, graphene, graphite, highly ordered pyrolytic graphite, single walled nanotubes, and/or multi-walled nanotubes). The thermal cracking apparatus has an elongated heating element disposed within an inner volume along a longitudinal axis thereof. The elongated heating element heats the process gas as it flows within a longitudinal elongated reaction zone to thermally crack molecules of the process gas into the constituent components of the molecules.
