摘要: Methods and compositions for suppressing fugitive dust are provided herein. To suppress fugitive dust, particulate materials, dust and or substrates can be treated with a mixture having a hydrophobizing agent and an oil. The hydrophobizing agent can be an organo- or halosilane, a tallow alkylamine, an amine-functionalized polysiloxane, or an amine-functionalized hydrophobic polymer.

摘要: Particulates, such as proppants, that are coated with a coating agent selected from the group consisting of: organosilanes, organosiloxanes, polysiloxanes, long carbon chain hydrocarbon amines containing no silicon or fluoro-based groups in the molecule, amine functionalized polyolefins and polymerizable natural oils; and a chemical additive selected from the group consisting of: a scale inhibitor, a biocide, and an H2S scavenger. The coating agent controls the release of the additive from the particulate surface into surrounding fluid, providing a slow release that promotes the long lasting effect of the additive. The coated particulates have use in oilfield applications such as hydraulic fracturing operations, gravel pack operations, and in water treatment processes.

摘要: Apparatus and methods for coating particulates to suppress dust and/or modify the behavior of the particulate, spray the coating onto the particulate as it moves along inclined surfaces within the coater apparatus. The coating is sprayed generally as a mist and the particulates remain free-flowing throughout the apparatus and when discharged therefrom. Apparatus using a single spray step and subsequent transfer coating steps to effect particulate-to-particulate transfer of coating achieve at least about 75% coating of the particulate. Embodiments of the apparatus with dual spray steps and without the subsequent transfer coating steps are capable of achieving at least 85% coating of particulates with a single pass through the apparatus.
