Abstract: A device and method store, mix, and apply polymethylmethacrylate bone cement, and comprise a first container (51) for a first pasty component of the bone cement, a dispensing plunger (54) that is arranged such that it can be shifted in the first container (51) for pressing the content of the first container (51) through a dispensing tube (62) situated opposite from the dispensing plunger (54), whereby the dispensing tube (62) is arranged such that it can be rotated and shifted in longitudinal direction through a feed-through in a side of the container (51) opposite from the dispensing plunger (54), and a mixing facility (72) for mixing the content of the first container (51), whereby the mixing facility (72) is arranged in the first container (51) and is secured to the dispensing tube (62), such that the mixing facility (72) can be moved in the first container (51) by moving the dispensing tube (62) in order to mix the content of the first container (51), whereby a closure (71) that can be opened is arranged on the end of the dispensing tube (62) pointing into the inside of the first container (51) and closes the dispensing tube (62), and an axially mobile core is arranged in the dispensing tube (62), and a second container for at least one second component of the bone cement is formed by the space between the closure (71) and the core in the dispensing tube (62), whereby the closure (71) of the second container can be removed from the first end of the dispensing tube (62) through an axial motion of the core and thus the second container can be opened with respect to the first container (51) such that the contents of the second container and of the first container (51) can be mixed with each other in the first container (51), whereby at least one boundary surface of the first container (51) is formed by a mobile volume compensation element (56) and the closure (71) is connected to the dispensing tube (62) by means of a deformable connection (74) such that the closure (71), even when it is open, is connected to the dispensing tube (62) by means of the deformable connection (74).

Abstract: The invention relates to a test set (1) for a photometric measuring device, comprising a mixing container (2) which has a filling opening (3) and comprising a metering container (8) which can be sealingly inserted into the filling opening (3) of the mixing container (2) and which contains a liquid reagent (13) in a closed cavity (9). The cavity (9) has a closure plunger (11), which can be moved axially in the cavity (9), at a first end of the metering container (8), said closure plunger generating a specifiable filling pressure in the reagent (13), and the metering container (8) has a closure membrane (10) at a second metering container and which can be inserted into the mixing container (2). According to the invention, the closure membrane (10) is equipped with a predetermined breaking point (20) which breaks open when the filling pressure is exceeded in a defined manner as a result of an axial movement of the closure plunger (11), said predetermined breaking point (20) of the closure membrane (10) being formed as a linearly extending material taper of the closure membrane (10), wherein the taper is arranged eccentrically in the region of an opening (24) in the base (23) of the substantially cylindrical metering container (8).

Abstract: A storage and mixing system for pasty two-component polymethyl methacrylate bone cements comprises a tubular cartridge having a cylindrical inner chamber, a dispensing plunger that is axially displaceable in the inner chamber of the cartridge, a partition disposed axially in the tubular cartridge, and a cartridge head which closes one end of the tubular cartridge. The cartridge head has a slot-shaped opening, wherein the partition protrudes from the inner chamber of the cartridge through the slot-shaped opening of the cartridge head, wherein the partition divides the cylindrical inner chamber of the cartridge bounded by the dispensing plunger and the cartridge head into two cavities that are spatially separated from one another. A first pasty cement component is present in the first cavity and a second pasty cement component is present in the separate second cavity, wherein the partition is removable through the slot-shaped opening of the cartridge head so that the two separate cavities are connected to one another after the partition is removed.

Abstract: A fluid processing device and methods are provided that can process one or many different fluid samples, detection for each of which can be multiplexed to detect the presence or absence of each of a panel of target sequences, for example 20 different target sequences. The device can comprise a substrate and one or more fluid processing pathways at least partially defined by the substrate. Each fluid processing pathway can comprise a pre-amplification region and two or more amplification regions disposed downstream from and in fluid communication with the pre-amplification region. A burstable valve can be disposed along each fluid processing pathway and the downstream regions can contain pre-loaded ammonia gas to draw an amplified sample downstream.
