    摘要: A tissue retention belt for retracting and retaining tissue in a position that permits access to a body portion of a patient for a medical procedure includes a flexible elongate body, a gripping portion affixed to the elongate body at the intermediate portion, and at least one attachment surface disposed at a proximal portion and/or a distal portion of the elongate body. The elongate body may include a first material having a first coefficient of friction, and the gripping portion may include a non-adhesive second material having a second coefficient of friction greater than the first coefficient of friction and defining a slip resistant exterior gripping portion. The tissue retention belt can be positioned or wrapped around a patient's body (e.g., pannus, thigh) such that the gripping surface contacts and grips the patient's skin to retract and retain the skin at the position to provide access for a medical procedure.

    摘要: A wound protector and retractor device 1 comprises a sleeve 2, a distal member provided by a distal ring 3 of resilient material and a proximal member provided by a proximal ring 4. The sleeve 2 is led around the ring 3 and is free to move axially relative to the distal ring 3 somewhat in the manner of a pulley. The proximal ring 4 is fixed to the sleeve 2, in this case at the proximal inner end thereof. The sleeve 2 terminates in a handle or gripping portion which is reinforced by a gripping ring 15. The sleeve extends from the proximal ring 4 and the distal ring 3 is contained between inner and outer layers 2a, 2b of the sleeve 2. The resilient distal ring 3 is scrunched up and inserted through the incision 6. The sleeve 2 is then pulled upwardly. On pulling of the sleeve 2 upwardly the outer layer 2b is pulled up while the inner layer 2a is drawn around the proximal ring 3. This results in shortening the axial extent between the proximal ring 4 and the distal ring 3, tensioning the sleeve and applying a retraction force to the margins of the incision 6. As the incision is being retracted the margins are also protected by the sleeve. On retraction, an access port is provided, for example for a surgeon to insert his hand and/or an instrument to perform a procedure. The device may be used as a retractor in open surgery or as a base for a valve/seal to allow it to be used in hand assisted laparoscopic surgery or for instrument access or hand access generally.

    摘要: A boot assembly apparatus, system and method for elevating the patient's limb when using a manual distractor unit is mounted upon a support frame attached to an operating table side rail. A foot strap is attached to the boot assembly apparatus and to the patient's ankle with a patient's knee support pad, extending from the distractor unit, is positioned under the patient's knee to provide traction to the patient's ankle, which is secured to the support frame. The boot assembly apparatus may be formed with a plurality of attachment points for the foot strap so as to provide improved access to the ankle area with advantages of allowing additional types of procedures a surgeon could perform on the patient and/or the ability of the surgeon to access the ankle area and lower leg.

    摘要: A device, system, and method that may help reduce complications associated with placing an intrauterine balloon in the uterine cavity of a patient is provided. In one aspect, the system includes an inflatable balloon, an inflation line having a distal end in communication with the balloon; an inner member comprising an elongate tubular body having a distal and proximal end; a slot extending from the distal to proximal end of the inner member, and an outer sheath in which the inner member is removably insertable. The outer sheath is configured to receive the balloon in a furled state therein such that the balloon may be introduced into the uterine cavity by transvaginally inserting the outer sheath through an endocervical canal of the patient and then introducing the balloon into the uterine cavity by moving the inner member through the outer sheath in the direction of uterine cavity.

    摘要: An inflatable assistive surgical instrument for transanal minimal invasive surgery, having a sheath that expands after inflation, is disclosed. The inflated sheath is cylindrical-shaped, and a notch is formed on the wall of the cylindrical sheath to expose the tissue of the colon wall for surgical operation. The inflatable sheath has an inflation nozzle for connecting with an inflating tube. The inflatable sheath disclosed in the present invention can fully achieve the expected effects and requirements and shows an extraordinary efficiency of the surgical operation, in comparison with the prior arts where the present invention is not adopted. The present invention also improves the quality and the success rate of surgical operation, and is highly appraised by the colorectal surgeons reduces the cost for single use.
