摘要: Methods and devices are disclosed for the formation of a communication between the aorta and left atrium. The method includes introducing a puncturing device, positioning the device at a location along the aorta, and advancing the puncturing device to create a pathway. The method may include: a. via an inferior artery, advancing a perforating tip of the puncturing device towards the aorta; b. positioning the perforating tip adjacent a wall of the aorta, proximate the left atrium; and c. advancing the perforating tip to perforate through the wall of the aorta and then through a wall of the left atrium, to create a pathway between the aorta and the left atrium, wherein the creation of the pathway can be confirmed with at least one of fluoroscopy, electro-anatomical mapping, pressure measurement, contrast injection, and echocardiograph.

摘要: Powered drivers operable to insert an intraosseous device into a bone and associated bone marrow are disclosed. Some of the present powered drivers may include a housing having a distal end and a proximal end; a motor disposed in the housing; a driveshaft at the distal end of the housing; and a gearbox coupled to the motor and to the driveshaft. Activation of the motor causes rotation of the driveshaft. The housing may include a power source configured to power the motor. The driveshaft may be slidably disposed in the housing and configured such that, upon application of a threshold force on the driveshaft in the direction of the proximal end of the housing, the driveshaft will slide toward the proximal end of the housing to cause an electrical circuit between the motor and the power source to close.

The surgical tool is shaped to define a side-facing suction port at a distal portion of the surgical tool to facilitate drawing tissue through the suction port and into the surgical tool, and includes a slidable transparent shutter configured to be disposed over the suction port, and to be slidably removed from the suction port. A needle is configured to be slidably disposed within the surgical tool and configured to puncture the tissue while the tissue is in the surgical tool.

摘要: A system and method are provided to monitor performance of an intraosseous device by using a supporting structure and an attachment mechanism. The attachment mechanism releasably secures the supporting structure proximate an insertion site for the intraosseous device. The supporting structure includes an opening formed therein and sized to receive at least a portion of the intraosseous device. A sensor detects parameters associated with providing fluids and/or medications through the intraosseous device to the bone marrow. The attachment mechanism and the supporting structure cooperate with each other to minimize movement of the intraosseous device relative to the insertion site when the portion of the intraosseous device is disposed in the opening of the supporting structure.

摘要: A system for intraosseous access can include an elongated instrument that is positioned within a cannula portion of a cannula assembly. The system can include a shield that is coupled with both the elongated instrument and the cannula assembly when in an unlocked state. The shield can permit proximal movement of the elongated instrument relative thereto when in the unlocked state. The shield can automatically transition to a locked state to attach to a distal end of the elongated instrument to restrict access to a distal tip of the elongated instrument.

摘要: An apparatus (650) for inserting a distal ring (9) of a wound retractor device (2) through a wound opening comprises a bladeless tip (641) for creating the wound opening by forcing tissue apart, and a conveying device (5) for conveying the distal ring (9) through the wound opening. The conveying device (5) comprises a hook element (6) for engaging the distal ring (9) to convey the distal ring (9) through the wound opening, and a receiver housing (651) for receiving a seal (652) and a proximal ring (653) of the wound retractor device (2) to hold the seal (652) and the proximal ring (653) externally of the wound opening, and thus maintain a sleeve portion of the wound retractor device (2) in tension, during conveying of the distal ring (9) through the wound opening.
