Abstract: A medical device, a cooling-fluid/rinsing-fluid hose, and a method for using a medical device. The medical device includes a handpiece with an interior enclosed by a handpiece housing, preferably for receiving a drive. The medical device also has an effector arranged on or coupleable to the handpiece and a supply device for supplying cooling fluid and/or rinsing fluid to the effector. The supply device includes a guide tube or guide cannula that passes through the interior in the handpiece longitudinal direction and is rigidly connected to the handpiece. The guide tube or guide cannula, which opens to the outside in a distal and in a proximal handpiece region, longitudinally guides a preferably single-use cooling-fluid/rinsing-fluid hose that is pushed into the guide tube.

Abstract: Methods and devices that displace bone or other hard tissue to create a cavity in the tissue. Where such methods and devices rely on a driving mechanism for providing moving of the device to form a profile that improves displacement of the tissue. These methods and devices also allow for creating a path or cavity in bone for insertion of bone cement or other filler to treat a fracture or other condition in the bone. The features relating to the methods and devices described herein can be applied in any region of bone or hard tissue where the tissue or bone is displaced to define a bore or cavity instead of being extracted from the body such as during a drilling or ablation procedure.

Abstract: A surgical device includes a plurality of cameras integrated therein. The view of each of the plurality of cameras can be integrated together to provide a composite image. A surgical tool that includes an integrated camera may be used in conjunction with the surgical device. The image produced by the camera integrated with the surgical tool may be associated with the composite image generated by the plurality of cameras integrated in the surgical device. The position and orientation of the cameras and/or the surgical tool can be tracked, and the surgical tool can be rendered as transparent on the composite image. A surgical device may be powered by a hydraulic system, thereby reducing electromagnetic interference with tracking devices.

Abstract: A surgical rasping and/or shaving system functions in multiple orthopedic applications, including but not limited to shoulder, knee, hip, wrist, ankle, spinal, or other joint procedures. The system may comprise a tissue removal member with a rasping and/or shaving head which may be low profile and offer a flat cutting/rasping/shaving surface, or with a cutting head with at least one cutting edge. The tissue removal member is configured to be driven by an attached hub that translates a rotational movement into a reciprocating motion. Suction for removal of bone fragments or other tissues is provided through an opening spaced apart from or adjacent to the rasping surface. A radiofrequency ablation (RF) electrode may be carried on the system to provide ablation or coagulation of soft tissues.
