Abstract: A targeted pressure device for providing point or proximal pressure to a targeted site in order to help occlude open blood vessels includes a base plate and two or more anchoring members. The base plate has a first surface configured to face towards the targeted site and a second surface opposite of the first surface. The anchoring members are fixedly coupled to the second surface of the base plate and extend perpendicular to the base plate. Each one of the anchoring members has a narrow distal portion and a wide proximal portion having a proximal end that is a fixed distance away from the base plate. The anchoring members are configured for engaging with a wrapping member that is used to attach the targeted pressure device to the targeted site.

Abstract: A tourniquet for occluding blood flow to a limb is improved by the addition of proximal and distal strain gauges. The proximal strain gauge may be monitored under conditions of total blood flow occlusion for time-varying signals indicative of volumetric limb changes arising from the subject's blood flow in the proximal section of the limb. Upon a change in limb occlusion pressure, the signals from the proximal strain gauge can be observed to change also, and the working pressure in the tourniquet can be adjusted safely in response. Automated control systems may further use inputs from a distal strain gauge and/or from a sensor that detects induced pressure changes within the tourniquet to improve the control of the tourniquet working pressure during operation to avoid unwanted blood flow past the tourniquet.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method for managing medical equipment includes presenting, at a display of a mobile computing device associated with an inspector, an inspection user interface configured to capture one or more user inputs from the inspector, receiving inspection account information via the one or more user inputs, receiving a location of the mobile computing device, providing, at the inspection user interface, identification information for transported medical equipment that is associated with the inspection account information, receiving status information for the transported medical equipment via the one or more user inputs, receiving, at a remote medical equipment database, location information for the transported medical equipment, and updating a maintenance report for the transported medical equipment by storing an inspection information entry in the maintenance report. The inspection information entry includes a time stamp, the location information, the received status information, and the location of the mobile computing device.

Abstract: A transparent pressure dressing device enables hemostasis of blood in a perforation of a blood vessel. The transparent pressure dressing device includes a rectangular plate shaped artificial hand component and one or more adhesive fins. The artificial hand component includes a protuberance section positioned proximal to a distal edge of the artificial hand component, and the adhesive fins extend from an upper surface of the artificial hand component. The protuberance section of the artificial hand component is gradually pressed against the perforation on the blood vessel to enable hemostasis of the blood, and the adhesive fins are configured to adhere to a body surface of a user proximal to the perforation on the blood vessel.

Abstract: A treatment method that increases circulation and pluripotency of stem and progenitor cells within a patient can be used to fight off or cure various diseases for the patient such as chronic kidney disease or end-stage renal disease.
