    Abstract: An iterative receiver receives a signal including useful and interfering signal components, and detects information carried thereon. The receiver includes at least one estimating unit receiving the signal and providing an estimate of each signal component, and at least two decoding and regenerating units, at each iteration, each decoding and regenerating unit decoding a respective one among the estimates and for regenerating the respective decoded estimate into a respective regenerated estimate. At each receiver iteration, the at least one estimating unit provides estimates based on regenerated estimates provided at a previous iteration. The receiver further includes a control unit determines activation or deactivation of each decoding and regenerating unit at each process step of a detection process dedicated to detection of the signal, and determines, for each process step, a respective number of allowed iterations for each decoding and regenerating unit whose activation has been determined for that process step.

    Abstract: A receiver adapted to receive a modulated signal including useful and interfering signals and to detect information bits carried thereon. The modulated signal comprises signal components each one associated with a respective modulation subcarrier and including respective useful and interfering signal components. The receiver may include a first estimation unit providing a respective first useful signal component estimate indicative of the useful signal component for each signal component; a second estimation unit providing a respective second useful signal component estimate indicative of the useful signal component for each signal component; a channel estimation unit estimating, for each signal component, a first channel frequency response associated with the respective useful signal component and a second channel frequency response associated with the respective interfering signal component; and a control unit determining, for each signal component, an interference level experienced by that signal component according to respective first and second channel frequency responses.

The method includes, at a cell, reiterating operations at each or a group of transmission time intervals. The operations include listing user equipment requiring resource blocks in a priority list; b) for the user equipment listed in the priority list, executing operations b1) and b2) or b1) and b3): b1) selecting a set of resource blocks including at least one resource block; b2) if the selected set of resource blocks has not been assigned to other user equipment, assigning to the user equipment the selected set of resource blocks; b3) if the selected set of resource blocks has been assigned to other user equipment, replacing the user equipment from the priority list with user equipment in a collision list.

    Abstract: A mobile network includes a base station having a central unit and a remote unit. The remote unit includes data buffers, each one associated with a respective user equipment for temporarily storing data to be transmitted thereto. For each selected user equipment, a method includes determining a status of the data buffer associated with the selected user equipment, and determining an average data traffic that the selected user equipment is able to receive. According to the status of the remote unit data buffer and to the average data traffic, a data throughput is determined with which the central unit can transmit the data for the selected user equipment to the data buffer associated with the selected user equipment. The method also causes the central unit to transmit the data for the selected user equipment to the data buffer associated thereto according to the determined data throughput.

    Abstract: A method of operating a mobile communication network including plural radio transceiver stations serving and managing communications between mobile communication devices. The method includes: a first radio transceiver station commanding, to a first mobile communication device, transmission of a probe signal; the first radio transceiver station providing to a second mobile communication device parameters useful to the second mobile communication device for receiving the probe signal; the first radio transceiver station performing a first measuring the probe signal; the first radio transceiver station receiving a second measure of the probe signal, performed by the second mobile communication device; the first radio transceiver station comparing the first and second measures; the first radio transceiver station commanding a switch of the communication of the first mobile communication device towards the second mobile communication device to a direct device-to-device communication based on a result of the comparing.
