Abstract:
A starter for cranking an internal combustion engine includes an electric motor, an output shaft, a pinion gear coupled to the output shaft. The starter motor further includes one-way clutch for transmitting the rotational torque of the electric motor to the output shaft while interrupting transmission of the rotational torque from the pinion gear driven by the engine to the electric motor. A clutch-inner of the one-way clutch is integrally formed with the output shaft. When the output shaft is driven by the engine via the pinion gear, a swinging rotation may be caused due to a small inclination of the output shaft relative to a real center axis of the starter. To suppress the swinging rotation, a washer is connected to a front end of the one-way clutch, and the washer is adapted to contact a rear end of the sliding bearing supporting the output shaft when the output shaft is rotated by the engine.
Abstract:
In an electromagnetic switch of a starter, a bobbin has two terminal holders on a flange. Each of the terminal holders defines a slot on its end surface and a terminal is press-fitted in the slot in an axial direction of the bobbin. An end of an excitation coil wound around the bobbin is pulled out the bobbin and connected to the terminal. A molded cover provides a through hole and is mounted on the terminal so that the terminal passes through the through hole. A sealing member is press-fitted on the terminal to air-tightly seal the through hole. A rod cover fitted on a rod supporting a movable contact has slits on its cylindrical part in the axial direction. The slits are closed before a distal end of the cylindrical part.
Abstract:
A starter includes a magnetic switch, a motor, and a terminal. The terminal fixed to both the magnetic switch and the motor and has two end portions in the longitudinal direction of the terminal. An end portion of the terminal confronts a movable contact within the magnetic switch. The other end portion of the terminal is connected to an electric circuitry of the motor therewithin.

Abstract:
The electric rotating machine includes a casing having first and second frames joined to each other at their opening ends in an axial direction, the first frame being formed with a fitting hole having an opened cross-sectional shape which opens to the opening end of the first frame. The electric rotating machine further includes a drain member made of rubber and fitted into the fitting hole. The drain member includes a fitting section having a neck portion through which a drain hole penetrates, and inner and outer collar portions facing with each other across from the neck portion. The drain member is installed on the first frame in such a state that the inner and outer collar portions abut against inner and outer wall surfaces of the first frame, respectively, by inserting the neck portion into the fitting hole from a side of the opening end of the first frame.

An apparatus for converting power of a power source used for a main unit mounted on a vehicle includes: a first circuit that converts the power into a first power and supplies the first power to a first auxiliary unit mounted on the vehicle; a second circuit that converts the power into a second power and supplies the second power to a second auxiliary unit mounted on the vehicle; a first board on which the first circuit is mounted; a second board on which the second circuit is mounted; and a connecting member that electrically connects between the first board and the second board to allow the power of the power source to be conducted therebetween.
Abstract:
In a starter for starting an internal combustion engine with a first output shaft to which a ring gear is coupled, a motor has a second output shaft to which a movable pinion member is coupled and is operative to, when energized, rotate the second output shaft. A solenoid device includes a solenoid actuator linked to the movable pinion member. The solenoid actuator is configured to, when activated, shift the movable pinion member toward the ring gear to be engaged with the ring gear. The solenoid device includes a solenoid switch configure to, when activated, energize the motor. The solenoid actuator and the solenoid switch are integrated with each other to provide the solenoid device. A controller module is configured to individually control an activation of the solenoid actuator and an activation of the solenoid switch. The controller module is mounted on the solenoid device.
Abstract:
An engine starter includes a starter motor which has an armature, a series-wound field coil and a parallel-wound field coil and a short-circuiting unit for short-circuiting the series-wound field coil under a predetermined engine starting condition. The series-wound field coil has a suitable current limiting resistance. The short-circuiting unit short-circuits the series-wound field coil after a crankshaft of an engine passes a first top dead center of an engine.
