摘要: A method for removing a stone from a patient comprising the steps of: providing a suction evacuation assembly which includes a sheath and one or more side arms; inserting and positioning a distal end of the sheath into a lumen or cavity of a patient's body containing a stones; connecting a tube to one of the side arms and to a collection bottle; connecting another tube to the collection bottle and a negative pressure system; visualizing the stone or foreign body using a scope inserted through the assembly; activating the negative pressure system in order to remove the stone from the cavity if the diameter of the stone is narrower than an inside diameter of the sheath and the side arm, or performing a lithotripsy on the stone to create fragments with a decreased diameter which allow the passage through the assembly; and collecting the stone in the collection bottle.

摘要: A kit for surgically removing stones comprising: a double barreled sheath including a first barrel and a second barrel joined side-by-side; a first connector which is engaged at the proximal end of the first barrel; a second connector which is engaged at the proximal end of the second barrel; a first rigid tube interconnecting the first barrel with the first connector with the first connector being releasably engaged to the first rigid tube and the first rigid tube, first barrel and first connector being co-axial; a second rigid tube interconnecting the second barrel with the second connector with the second connector being releasably engaged to the second rigid tube and the second rigid tube, second barrel and second connector being co-axial; and a wire basket retriever adapted for insertion into one of the barrels and being releasably engaged with a connector or an actuation device.

摘要: A surgical retractor has a shaft with an integral blade. The shaft and the blade are joined at an angle. The blade has an upper surface. A plurality of LED lights are embedded within the blade and are exposed at the upper surface. The blade surrounding the LED lights is opaque. The retractor may further include a camera mounted on the blade. Also disclosed is a surgical retractor kit including a mounting ring, at least one of the aforementioned surgical retractors, and a coupler for releaseably mounting the retractor to the ring.

摘要: A suture guiding device comprising a tubular shaft having opposite ends which are distal and proximal relative to a person holding the device for use in a suturing procedure, the distal end of the shaft being adapted to be inserted into a patient during the procedure. A suture guide is mounted at the distal end of the shaft for rotation relative to the shaft about an axis extending endwise with respect to the shaft. The guide has a guide surface for guiding a suture needle. A hand-operable control device is mounted on the shaft generally adjacent its proximal end. The guide and the control device are connected whereby hand-operation of the control device effects rotation of the guide to selectively adjust the suture-guiding position of the guide surface.

摘要: An instrument comprising a substantially rigid guide tube having opposite open ends which are distal and proximal relative to a person using the instrument. The guide tube has a shank portion and a distal end portion extending generally laterally with respect to the shank portion. A handle is provided on the shank portion of the guide tube generally adjacent the proximal end of the guide tube. A stiff but flexible shaft inside the guide tube has a distal end part movable distally relative to the guide tube to extend through and beyond the open distal end of the guide tube. A suture thread holder is provided on the distal end part of the shaft. The shaft is manually movable relative to the guide tube to move the distal end part of the shaft and the suture thread holder from a retracted position to an extended position along a substantially straight path extending generally laterally at an angle of not substantially less than ninety degrees with respect to the shank portion of the guide tube.

摘要: A needle guide comprising a base to which a pair of horizontal slide bars are secured, the horizontal slide bars including a channel opening running between the bars, a needle stabilizer with a central tube is slideably engaged with the pair of horizontal slide bars, wherein the needle stabilizer extends through the channel opening and has the ability to change positions along a length of the horizontal slide bar, an angular ruler is secured to the base and located proximal to the needle stabilizer to allow accurate adjustment of the angle of the externally adjustable needle guide and one or more virtual visualization bars to aid in visualization using radiography, ultrasound, or magnetic resonance (or any other medical imaging technology) to visualize the virtual visualization bars.
