    Abstract: A handheld injection device includes a housing containing a cartridge, a dose setting means being operable in a first direction to set a desired dose to be dispensed, a piston rod being adapted to cooperate with a piston so as to cause a set dose to be injected from the cartridge, and a first clicker component, which is largely rotationally constrained to the housing, and a second clicker component, which is rotatable relative to the housing during dose dispensing. The clicker components are adapted to contact each other only at the end of dispensing of a set dose to thereby provide an audible and/or tactile first feedback to a user. The first clicker component is displaceable relative to the housing between a proximal dose setting position and a distal dose dispensing position.

The system includes an electronic control unit configured to control an operation of the system, and an electrical motion sensing unit that is configured to generate one or more data signals. The data signals are suitable to quantify relative rotational movement between a first member and a second member during a dose setting operation for setting a dose to be delivered by the drug delivery device and/or a dose delivery operation for delivering the set dose. The system is configured to perform a comparison operation to compare first data to second data. The first data indicating a first relative angular position of the first member and the second member, and being derivable from one or more data signals. The second data indicating a second relative angular position of the first member and the second member.

    Abstract: An electronic system for a drug delivery device is provided. The electronic system comprises a dose setting and drive mechanism comprising a first member and a second member, wherein in the dose delivery operation and/or in the dose setting operation, the first member moves, e.g. rotates, relative to the second member; an electronic control unit; an electrical use detection unit operatively connected to the electronic control unit, and configured to generate a use signal in response to the relative movement, e.g. a relative rotational movement, between the first member and the second member, preferably during the dose delivery operation. The electronic system is configured such that it is switched from a first state into a second state by the electronic control unit in response to the use signal, wherein the electronic system has an increased electrical power consumption in the second state as compared to the first state.

    Abstract: A sensor device is removably attachable to a drug delivery device. The sensor device comprises an array of optical sensors arranged within the sensor device such that, when the sensor device is attached to the drug delivery device, which has a first movable element configured to move along a path parallel to the longitudinal axis of the drug delivery device, each optical sensor is operable to detect light received at different locations along the path and to output a signal indicative of an amount of detected light. Circuitry is configured to receive the signals output from the optical sensors and, based on the received signals, determine information associated with a location along the path of the first movable element.

    Abstract: The present disclosure is generally directed to a drug delivery device for selecting and dispensing a number of user variable doses of a medicament. The device comprises a housing and at least two separate component parts, wherein for example at least one of these component parts performs a movement relative to the housing during dose setting and for example at least one of these component parts performs a movement relative to the housing during dose dispensing, and wherein the relative movement of the at least two separate component parts with respect to each other during dose setting differs from the relative movement of the at least two separate component parts with respect to each other during dose dispensing. The device further comprises a monitoring device, wherein at least one component part of the device is diaphanous to allow optical detection of the movements of the at least two separate component parts relative to the housing, relative to the monitoring device and/or relative to each other during dose setting and/or during dose dispensing by the monitoring device.

    Abstract: The disclosure refers to a handheld injection device comprising a housing, a dose indicator positioned within and axially constrained to the housing and rotatable with respect to the housing during dose setting and during dose dispensing, a gauge element, which is at least partly interposed between the housing and the dose indicator, wherein the gauge element is axially guided within the housing and in threaded engagement with the dose indicator such that rotation of the dose indicator causes an axial displacement of the gauge element (80; 490). A contrast element having a first marking is provided and at least a region of the gauge element is provided with a second marking, with the first marking and/or the second marking being visible through a first window or aperture in the housing depending on the axial position of the gauge element within the housing.
