Abstract: The present disclosure relates to an apparatus and method for cell reselection in a wireless communication system. The method comprises: determining whether a User Equipment (UE) is in an inactive mode supported by a serving cell and detecting a trigger for reselection of the serving cell for the UE, while the UE is in the inactive mode. The method further comprises identifying, based on the detection, a plurality of neighbouring cells available for being connected to the UE. The method also comprises selecting a first cell, from among the plurality of the neighbouring cells, that supports the inactive mode of the UE, for connecting with the UE.

Abstract: A method for controlling Short Message Service (SMS) communication by a Dual Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) Dual Standby (DSDS) device is provided. The method includes detecting that a first SIM is on a voice call and a second SIM is in a standby mode, determining whether page information is received at the second SIM from a server during the voice call of the first SIM and/or the voice call of the first SIM is terminated, immediately sending a refresh registration signal to the server or triggering an event at a DSDS device when the page information is received at the second SIM from the server during the voice call of the first SIM and/or the voice call of the first SIM is terminated and immediately receiving a pending SMS from the server in response to sending the refresh registration signal to the server or triggering the event.

Abstract: A method for handling data, dangling in a new radio (NR) leg of a split bearer, by a user equipment (UE) is disclosed. The method comprises predicting occurrence of NR uplink (UL) leg switch; sending a buffer status report (BSR) pertaining to protocol data units (PDUs) in radio link control (RLC) layer and media access control (MAC) layer in the NR leg based on predicting the occurrence of NR UL leg switch; and initiating recovery of dangling PDUs in the NR leg after the occurrence of the NR UL leg switch, wherein the recovery includes sending the dangling PDUs to a long term evolution (LTE) leg of the split bearer.

Abstract: Embodiments herein disclose a method for handling RLF in a MRDC system comprising a UE connected to a Master Node and at least one Secondary Node (SN). The method includes detecting, by the UE, a radio link failure (RLF) with the master node. Further, the method includes determining, by the UE, whether a Secondary Node termination condition is met. Further, the method includes performing one of: maintaining, by the UE, a connection with the at least one secondary node till the SN termination condition is met in response to determining that the SN termination condition is not met, and releasing, by the UE, the connection with the at least one secondary node in response to determining that the SN termination condition is met.

Abstract: Accordingly the embodiments herein disclose a method for cell reselection by UE in a connected mode. The method includes measuring signal strength of neighboring cells in one or more inter-radio access technology (inter-RAT) frequencies while camped on a serving cell in the connected mode. Further, the method includes determining power class (PC) capability of the neighboring cells by scanning a band corresponding to the Evolved Absolute Radio Frequency Channel Number (EARFCN) of the neighboring cells, by reading SIB from neighboring cell, by reading a control channel message. Furthermore, the method includes reselecting to a neighboring cell using the determined power class capability when the measured signal strength of the neighboring cell meets the pre-defined reselection threshold.

Embodiments herein allow routing data between a UE 206 and an IAB donor 200 though IAB nodes 201, 202 using adaptation layers of the IAB donor 200 and the IAB nodes 201, 202. The adaptation layers of the IAB donor 200 and the IAB nodes 201, 202 are configured by defining adaptation layer header and functionality. Mapping is performed between bearers/RLC channels of the UE 206 and the IAB node 202 and between bearers/RLC channels of the IAB nodes 201, 202 and the IAB donor 200. The means to perform the mapping is specified by the adaptation layers of either the IAB donor 200 or the IAB nodes 201, 202. The data is routed through the bearers/RLC channels. The embodiments include managing RLC layer functionality using either hop-by-hop ARQ or end-to-end ARQ.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a communication method and system for converging a 5th-Generation (5G) communication system for supporting higher data rates beyond a 4th-Generation (4G) system with a technology for Internet of Things (IoT). The present disclosure may be applied to intelligent services based on the 5G communication technology and the IoT-related technology, such as smart home, smart building, smart city, smart car, connected car, health care, digital education, smart retail, security and safety services. Methods and systems for managing bearer configuration of user equipment (UE) with Evolved-Universal Terrestrial Radio Access Network-New Radio-Dual Connectivity (E-UTRAN-NR-DC) (EN-DC) capability. The UE detects connectivity issues in the UE itself and in interfaces connecting between a NR network with the UE, a LTE network, or an EPC that require disabling NR capability of the UE. The bearer configuration is determined and updated based on the detected connectivity issues. The UE signals the LTE network about the disabling of NR capability, requests enabling of data transfer through bearers of a MCG bearers associated with the LTE network in a current MCG RRC session, and prevents addition of SCG bearers associated with the NR network. The UE recovers data in the SCG bearers, lost due the issues in the NR network, through the MCG bearers. The UE can send a Tracking Area Update (TAU) to indicate the disabling of NR capability if the connectivity issues persist.
