Disclosed herein is a composition comprising a poly(arylene sulfide); a polysiloxane/polyimide block copolymer; glass fiber and an optional platy filler. The polysiloxane/polyimide block copolymer has greater than or equal to 10 weight percent siloxane content, based on the total weight of the polysiloxane/polyimide block copolymer. The composition retains greater than or equal to 60% of the initial viscosity after being retained at 320° C. for 30 minutes and the composition has an OSU peak heat release less than 45 kW/m2 when measured using the method of FAR F25.4 and according to FAR 25.853 (d). Articles comprising the composition are also described.

Molded articles having a maximum thickness of 3 centimeters and including a polyetherimide composition are described. The polyetherimide compositions include 60 to 99.9 weight percent of a polyetherimide having a weight average molecular weight of 5,000 to 80,000 Daltons, and 0.1 to 40 weight percent of an aryl phosphate having a molecular weight from 500 to 1,200 Daltons, wherein weight percent is based on the total weight of the composition. The compositions have a melt flow at least 10% greater than the melt flow of the same polyetherimide composition without the aryl phosphate, measured according to ASTM D1238 at 337° C. under a 6.7 kilogram load.

Processes and compositions for cleaning mixing devices are disclosed that improve the production and quality of thermoplastic polymer resins subsequently produced in the mixing device, while reducing the time needed for cleaning and/or change over. A cleaning mixture comprising polymeric resin pellets having a Rockwell R hardness of 85 to 140 externally coated with an aqueous solution containing sulfonate salts, alkyl aryl sulfonate salts, alkyl sulfate salts, C6 to C36 carboxylic acid salts, or mixtures thereof, is used to purge the mixing device. The surfactant salt is present in the aqueous solution at 0.2 to 30 wt % of the solution, the aqueous solution having a pH of 6.0 to 9.0.
