Abstract: A polyester composition comprising, based on the total weight of the polyester composition, a first polyester and a second polyester, wherein a weight ratio of the first polyester to the second polyester is 80:20 to 20:80, preferably 60:40 to 40:60; 5 to 60 weight percent (wt %), preferably 5 to 50 wt % of a reinforcing filler; and 5 to 60 wt %, preferably 10 to 50 wt %, more preferably 20 to 50 wt % of an inorganic filler having a specific gravity of greater than 3 grams per cubic centimeter, as determined in accordance with ASTM D792, wherein a molded article comprising the polyester composition has a sound transmission loss of greater than 30 dB, preferably 35 to 50 dB, more preferably 36 to 45 dB, as determined at 1,250 Hz according to ASTM E1050 using a molded disc with a diameter of 100 mm and a thickness of 3.2 mm.

Abstract: HCFO-containing isocyanate-reactive compositions, foam-forming compositions containing such isocyanate-reactive compositions, rigid PUR-PIR foams made using such foam-forming compositions, and methods for producing such foams, including use of such foams as insulation in discontinuous foam panel applications. The isocyanate-reactive composition includes a polyol blend, a blowing agent composition, and a tertiary amine catalyst. The polyol blend includes: (1) an aromatic polyester polyol having a functionality of 1.5 to less than 2.5 and an OH number of 150 to 360 mg KOH/g; (2) an aromatic polyester polyol having a functionality of at least 2.5 and an OH number greater than 360 mg KOH/g, which is present in an amount of at least 10% by weight, based on the total weight of the aromatic polyester polyol in the polyol blend; and (3) an amine-initiated polyether polyol having an OH number of at least 500 mg KOH/g and a functionality of 2.5 to 4. The blowing agent composition includes a hydrochlorofluoroolefin and a carbon dioxide generating chemical blowing agent.

Abstract: The present invention provides a heat shrinkable multilayer film that makes it possible to produce a heat shrinkable label having high seal strength regardless of interlaminar strength, and that also has excellent transparency. The present invention also provides a heat shrinkable label including the heat shrinkable multilayer film. Provided is a heat shrinkable multilayer film including: front and back layers each containing a polyester resin; an interlayer containing a polystyrene resin; and adhesive layers, wherein the front and back layers and the interlayer are stacked with the adhesive layers interposed therebetween, and the adhesive layers each contain a polyester resin having a glass transition temperature of 77° C. or lower.

Abstract: A porous composition comprising a porous organic polymer (POP) fiber having a diameter of at least 100 nm and a length of at least 1 mm and pores having a size within a range of 10 nm to 5 microns distributed over the surface and volume of the POP fiber, wherein the organic polymer is insoluble in water and may be selected from, e.g., polyolefins, polyesters, polyamides, and polyacrylonitrile. Also described herein is a method for producing a POP fiber comprising: (i) forming a precursor fiber from a blend of an organic polymer and lignin, wherein the lignin is present in the form of domains within the precursor fiber; and (ii) washing the precursor fiber with a solvent that dissolves the lignin to result in the POP fiber. Also described herein is a method for removing oil from an oil-water mixture comprising contacting the oil-water mixture with the POP fibers.
