Abstract:
This invention is concerned with the control and design of a LED lighting system that does not need electrolytic capacitors in the entire system and can generate light output with reduced luminous flux fluctuation. The proposal is particularly suitable, but not restricted to, off-line applications in which the lighting system is powered by the ac mains. By eliminating electrolytic capacitors which have a limited lifetime of typically 15000 hours, the proposed system can be developed with passive and robust electrical components such as inductor and diode circuits, and it features long lifetime, low maintenance cost, robustness against extreme temperature variations and good power factor. No extra electronic control board is needed for the proposed passive circuits, which can become dimmable systems if the ac input voltage can be adjusted by external means.

Abstract:
An LED driver for a plurality of LED light strings has a common node and a plurality of driver output nodes for connection of a plurality of LED light strings. A master power circuit is provided and has a master output connected with the common node. A plurality of slave power circuits are provided which each have a slave output connected with a respective one of the driver output nodes.
Abstract:
The present invention generally relates to solution electrospinning processes for fabricating fibers, to the fibers prepared thereby, and to non-woven webs, fabrics, porous composite filter media, and articles comprising the fibers.
Abstract:
The instant invention generally provides a porous filter medium, a porous composite filter medium, a filter assembly, processes of making the same, and processes suitable for filtering contaminants from liquids.
Abstract:
The present invention is a process for making an inorganic/organic hybrid totally porous spherical silica particles by self assembly of surfactants that serve as organic templates via pseudomorphic transformation.
Abstract:
A protection circuit suitable for electrical instruments includes a software detecting circuit, a logic AND circuit, a driver and control circuit for engine operating power components, and a hardware detecting circuit connected with the logic AND circuit. Both the software detecting circuit and the hardware detecting circuit monitor the state of an operating switch and provide signals to the logic AND circuit. Only when the state of the switch changes from opened to closed and both detecting circuits determine that this state is correct will the driver and control circuit signal the engine to operate. Furthermore, by connecting two or more power components in serial at the same time, the engine will not work by accident and the machine will not be out of control when any one of the power components is damaged. A circuit using capacitors of suitable specification can also be provided to isolate the controlling pin of a power component in the form of an SCR to thereby avoid failure and damage of the entire system.
Abstract:
Provided is a composition of matter comprising a chromatographic stationary phase. The chromatographic stationary phase has bonded thereto, two different active silyl moieties. By combining two different active moieties on the same solid support, the activity of the chromatographic stationary phase can be tailored to a particular application. The active silyl moieties may be substituted or unsubstituted.
Abstract:
A substrate for retaining a particulate packing medium within a chromatography column is disclosed. The substrate is formed from a polymer material and positionable to retain the packing medium within the column. The polymer has pores sized to retain the packing medium within the column but allow fluid, such as transport liquid or carrier gas to pass through. A method of forming the substrate within the column is also disclosed. The method includes placing a polymer precursor into the column and then polymerizing it to form the substrate.
