Abstract:
Methods and apparatuses are provided for synchronizing security parameters between access terminals and a wireless network. An access terminal and network entity can conduct a security mode procedure where the access terminal sends a security mode complete message to the network entity. On receipt of the security mode complete message, the network entity may update to new security parameters. The access terminal may initiate a mobility procedure while the security mode procedure is ongoing and may, as a result, abort the security mode procedure and revert back to the old security parameters. The access terminal can send a mobility update message to the network entity including a dedicated status indicator adapted to inform the network entity that the access terminal has reverted back to the old security parameters. In response to the mobility update message, the network entity may revert back to the old security parameters.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus of tune away in wireless communications include receiving a master information block (MIB) from a first subscription network entity on a first subscription in a user equipment (UE). The method further includes determining system information block (SIB) scheduling information associated with the first subscription network entity. Moreover, the method includes tuning away from the first subscription to a second subscription.
Abstract:
Certain aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communications. In some aspects, a wireless communication device may determine, concurrent with reading of one or more system information blocks (SIBs) of a first frequency, acquisition information for a second frequency. In some aspects, the wireless communication device may perform a reading of one or more SIBs associated with the second frequency based on determining the acquisition information for the second frequency and to cause the wireless communication device to camp on a cell associated with the second frequency. Numerous other aspects are provided.
Abstract:
Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a first subscriber identity module (SIM) of a user equipment (UE) may detect that the UE is operating in a high mobility environment. The first SIM of the UE may transmit, to a second SIM operating in an idle mode, an indication that the UE is operating in the high mobility environment and an indication of a first frequency error estimation associated with the first SIM. The second SIM of the UE may operate in a high mobility mode using a second frequency error estimation that is based at least in part on the first frequency error estimation associated with the first SIM. Numerous other aspects are described.
Abstract:
In an aspect of the disclosure, a method, a computer-readable medium, and an apparatus are provided. The apparatus may receive a priority list associated with preferred radio frequencies from a serving base station. In certain aspects, each radio frequency of the preferred radio frequencies associated with a first set of base station may operate on a first RAT. In certain other aspects, the apparatus may determine if the UE is able to reselect to the first RAT. In certain other aspects, the apparatus may perform a rank-based cell reselection procedure based on signal strength when the UE is unable to reselect to the first RAT.
Abstract:
Embodiments include systems and methods that may be performed by a processor of a multi-subscription wireless device for managing beam selection. Various embodiments may include determining a rotation angle between an orientation of a first beam of a first subscription and an orientation of a second beam of the first subscription, applying the rotation angle to a first beam of a second subscription to identify a second beam of the second subscription, and performing a tune-away operation comprising tuning a radio frequency (RF) resource of the multi-subscription wireless device to the second subscription and configuring spatial filter parameters of an antenna array to communicate via the identified second beam of the second subscription.
Abstract:
Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to methods and apparatus for saving power while performing radio access technology measurements. An exemplary method that may be performed by user equipment (UE) includes obtaining a configuration indicating a measurement gap for the UE to measure one or more non-serving cells, wherein the UE does not receive data transmissions from a serving cell during the measurement gap, deciding not to measure the non-serving cells during a period including at least a portion of the measurement gap, and deactivating a receive chain of the UE during the period.
Abstract:
A communication device may be configured to access a plurality of subscriptions for a plurality of providers. For example, a communication device may be configured with at least one subscriber identity module (SIM). For a communication device having a plurality of subscriptions accessible thereto, the selection of a subscription to connect to a destination network may be configurable. The selection of a subscription from a plurality of available subscriptions may be based on a cost (e.g., financial cost, data cost, or another resource) associated with connecting to a destination network using different subscriptions. For example, a first subscription may be selected if connection to the destination network is more expensive using a second subscription and/or if the balance on the second subscription is too low.
Abstract:
A method for authenticating a circuit switched (CS) call on a virtual subscriber identity module (VSIM) includes: authenticating the VSIM for a packet switched (PS) call connection using authentication information obtained from a remote server through a software subscriber identity module (soft-SIM) connection to the remote server; initiating a call connection on a CS radio access technology (RAT) between the VSIM and a first communication network; and authenticating the VSIM CS call connection to the first communication network through the VSIM PS connection in response to an authentication request for the call connection on the CS RAT.
