Abstract: Embodiments include systems and methods that may be performed by a processor of a multi-subscription wireless device for managing beam selection. Various embodiments may include determining a rotation angle between an orientation of a first beam of a first subscription and an orientation of a second beam of the first subscription, applying the rotation angle to a first beam of a second subscription to identify a second beam of the second subscription, and performing a tune-away operation comprising tuning a radio frequency (RF) resource of the multi-subscription wireless device to the second subscription and configuring spatial filter parameters of an antenna array to communicate via the identified second beam of the second subscription.

Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to techniques for mitigating the decoding errors observed at the receiver as a result of puncturing symbols between consecutive subframes having the same transmission direction. To reduce the decoding errors, a plurality of transmission options, each including a number of resource blocks and a modulation and coding scheme (MCS), may be identified. In addition, each transmission option may be associated with one or more puncturing patterns that hinder decoding of a codeword at the receiver. The base station or user equipment (UE) may then select or modify at least one aspect of a scheduling decision involving the communication of the codeword in a given subframe of at least two consecutive subframes to minimize decoding errors. For example, a selected puncturing pattern or a transport block size associated with a selected transmission option may be modified.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides reduced cell-specific reference signal (CRS) transmissions for evolved machine type communication (eMTC). In one aspect, a network entity may determine at least one narrow band for transmission of a CRS. The network entity may further identify one or more resource blocks proximate the at least one narrow band and transmit the CRS on the narrow band and the one or more proximate resource blocks to a UE. In another aspect, a UE may apply a receive window to filter one or more noise samples outside at least one narrow band allocation, the receive window corresponding to one or more resource blocks located outside the defined number of resource blocks of the at least one narrow band allocation. The UE may further receive the CRS within the at least one narrow band allocation from a network entity in response to applying the receive window.

Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for hopping design for larger bandwidth allocations in enhanced machine type communications (eMTC). A method of wireless communication by a user equipment (UE) is provided. The method generally includes receiving a resource allocation for uplink transmission in at least one subframe. The resource allocation includes a set of allocated subframes and configuration information for frequency hopping. The method includes determining allocated frequency hopped resources, within a system bandwidth, for each subframe of the set of allocated subframes. The method includes including a center resource block (RB) in addition to the determined allocated frequency hopped resources if the determined allocated frequency hopped resources include resources around the center RB. The method includes removing a last RB from the determined allocated frequency hopped resources if the determined allocated frequency hopped resources include resources around the center RB.

In one aspect, a UE determines a first configuration of subframes within at least one radio frame available for the UE and other UEs to use for bundled communications with a BS. The UE receives an indication of one or more subframes within the at least one radio frame that are unavailable for bundled uplink transmissions, and determines a second configuration of subframes to use for bundled communications based on the indication. The UE overrides the first configuration of subframes with the second configuration of subframes, and communicates with the BS using the second configuration of subframes. Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a first subscriber identity module (SIM) of a user equipment (UE) may detect that the UE is operating in a high mobility environment. The first SIM of the UE may transmit, to a second SIM operating in an idle mode, an indication that the UE is operating in the high mobility environment and an indication of a first frequency error estimation associated with the first SIM. The second SIM of the UE may operate in a high mobility mode using a second frequency error estimation that is based at least in part on the first frequency error estimation associated with the first SIM. Abstract: Techniques and apparatus for transmission and reception with partial allocation in orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA)/single-carrier frequency division multiple access (SC-FDMA) systems are provided. One technique includes determining first parameter(s) to apply to transmission/receive processing of a signal, based in part on a resource allocation for the signal. The resource allocation is partitioned out of a larger system bandwidth. Second parameter(s) to apply to the transmission/receive processing are determined based at least in part on the first parameter(s). Transmission/receive processing of the signal is performed in accordance with the first and second parameters.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Generally, the described techniques provide for improving communications between a user equipment (UE) and a base station in a shared radio frequency spectrum while the UE is operating in a discontinuous reception (DRX) mode. In particular, the UE may be configured to adapt operation in a DRX mode based on whether a base station has access to a shared radio frequency spectrum. For example, the UE may adjust a length of an on-duration for monitoring for a data transmission from the base station, adjust a periodicity for monitoring for control information from the base station, determine whether to keep monitoring for wake-up signaling from the base station, etc. based on whether the base station has access to the shared radio frequency spectrum. Further techniques for improving operation in a DRX mode are also described.
