摘要: In a medical pulse oximetry sensor (10) at least two light emitting diodes (16, 18) are disposed to emit red light and infrared light through a portion of a subject's anatomy with a typically high oxygenated blood throughput. Typically, this area is also relatively narrow, to allow the light to pass through the area with acceptable attenuation, such as a finger or an earlobe. Light emitted from the LEDs (16, 18) is incumbent upon an integrated circuit (22) printed from a single CMOS substrate (21). The integrated circuit (22) includes all preprocessing and post-processing elements needed to convert the detected light signals into a pulse oximetry measurement. These elements include a photodetector (20), a photo pre-amplifier (40), a sampler/holder (42), an analog to digital converter (44), a microprocessor (46) a rangefinder (48), a timing control circuit (50) and an LED control circuit (52). By integrating all pre and post processing functions into the carriage housing (12), the system becomes more efficient, less expensive to manufacture, and more robust to ambient light and x-ray radiation.

摘要: The invention relates to a portable electronic device, like a shaver, a toothbrush, a walkman, a telephony unit, etc., said device being arranged to measure a signal representative of a physiological condition of a user during a conventional usage of said device. In an embodiment of the electric shaver (25), it is provided with a first contact surface (26) comprising a plurality of shaving heads (26a, 26b, 26c). The shaving heads are manufactured from an electrically conducting material, usually a metal and are suited to provide a good electrical contact to the individual's skin during shaving, thus constituting a first electrode. The second contact surface (28′) is provided on the housing of the shaver, in particular on a grip portion (28) thereof, where a contact to a hand of the individual is enabled. The second contact surface (28′) comprises a second electrode (29). Additionally, the second contact surface (28′) can comprise a further sensor (29′) arranged to provide additional data on the physiological condition of the user. The signal measured from the electrodes is supplied to the input of the amplifier (30), which is preferably a differential amplifier. The signal from the differential amplifier (30) is then supplied to a band-pass filter (32), which is preferably set for the range of 0.02 Hz to 100 Hz. The limited amplified biosignal (33) is then forwarded to the analogue-to-digital converter (34). The digitized signal is then analyzed by the analysis means (35), the results of the analysis, comprising the deduced health-related parameter is being displayed on a display (36) of the electric shaver. Additionally the health-related parameter and/or the raw data are transmitted to a remotely arranged unit by a built-in transmission means (38). Preferably, the transmission means (38) comprises a wire-less transmitter.

摘要: The invention relates to a distress signaling system, a body area network for enabling a distress signaling, a method for signaling a condition of a distress and a vehicle arranged with the distress signaling system. The distress signaling system 10 according to the invention comprises monitoring means 11 arranged in a vehicle in order to monitor a vital sign of a seated passenger by means of a sensor 12 arranged to measure a signal representative to said sign. The monitoring means 11 are preferably arranged to perform a continuous monitoring of the vital sign of the passenger and are further arranged to provide a corresponding signal to the front-end electronics 20 of the system 10. The front-end electronics 20 is arranged to analyze the signal from the monitoring means 11. For that purpose the front-end electronics 20 comprises a data processing means 21 arranged to process the measured signal in order to yield data representative to a condition of the passenger. The data processing means 21 comprises a preamplifier 22, an analogue processing circuit 22 and an ADC unit 23. The data processing means 21 forwards the corresponding data to the data analysis means 25, arranged to analyze said data in order to yield a condition-related parameter. The determined condition-related parameter is written into a first look-up table 25a. The data analysis means 25 is further arranged to compare said condition-related parameter to a preset valid parameter stored in a second look-up table 25b. In case the data analysis means detects that the condition-related parameter exceeds a preset valid parameter, it generates a trigger signal to actuate the indicating means 26. The indicating means 26 receives the trigger signal and generate a suitable feedback to the passenger, preferably by means of a suitable user-interface 27. Additionally, the indicating means 26 can be arranged to control a vehicle control system 29, in order to alter a cabin environment, or to actuate an alarming means of the vehicle, like an acoustic alarm and/or the emergency lights and/or to actuate an engine of the vehicle.

摘要: A modulator for a communications system includes a spread spectrum coder and a pulse code modulator having a signal input port connectable to a signal output port of the spread spectrum coder. The modulator performs a robust and error free modulation and coding scheme by using a modified spread spectrum scheme combined with pulse code modulation. The communication system contains a low data rate, noise robust modulation and coding scheme using a very simple transmitter. This results in a very straightforward transmitter circuit, reducing size and costs of the transmitter.
