摘要: A cam element portions is configured such that respective maximum lift portions (lift ending points) of both-side end-face cams thereof are provided at respective phases which are different from each other in a rotational direction and that a maximum value of a length, in an axial direction, between respective cam faces of the both-side end-face cams which are provided at the same phase is set to be a distance, in the axial direction, between a first operational member and a second operational member or smaller. Accordingly, in a valve gear of an engine in which cams operative to control opening/closing of a valve are switchable, it can be properly prevented that a camshaft locks and stop rotating because of an operational malfunction of an operational member or the like.

The metal cover member is provided with a cam angle sensor attachment to which a cam angle sensor is attached, the cam angle sensor detecting a rotational position of a camshaft of the engine.

摘要: A cylinder head cover structure of an engine includes a positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valve releasing blow-by gas from an oil separating chamber to an intake system of the engine. The oil separating chamber is included in an oil separator provided to an interior of a cylinder head cover. In the oil separating chamber, oil mist is separated and removed from the blow-by gas. The PCV valve is located between a portion of a defining wall and an exterior wall of the cylinder head cover, and supported by the defining wall and the exterior wall, the defining wall defining the oil separating chamber and the cam housing, and the exterior wall being spaced apart from the portion of the defining wall. The PCV valve is surrounded by a space communicating with the cam housing.

摘要: A cam element portion comprises a slant portion (reverse-rotation return slope portion), which is positioned on a rotary-delay side from a maximum-lift portion (lift ending point) of an end-face cam and slants inward toward the rotary-delay side from an outer peripheral face of the end-face cam. Accordingly, in a valve gear of an engine in which cams operative to control opening/closing of a valve are switchable, it can be properly prevented that the cam element portion is switched unexpectedly and improperly or an operational member breaks down which are possibly caused by an engine's reverse rotation.

摘要: A valve operating device for an engine is provided. The device includes at least two cam elements per one shaft. End face cams are formed in opposing end faces of two adjacent cam elements, and the end face cams respectively have protruding portions being formed offset in phase so that the protruding portions overlap in the axial directions when the two cam elements are close to each other. A control member is provided, the control member is projected to an actuated position at which the control member is projected to engage with the end face cams so as to separate the adjacent cam elements from each other when the cam elements are close to each other, and the control member is retreated to a non-actuated position at which the control member is retreated from the actuated position.

摘要: An oil supply path passes through members separate from a cylinder head (4) to supply a lubricant to bearings (73, 74) of camshaft journals. The oil supply path includes an oil supply passage (66) for the camshaft above the camshaft (19, 20), a connection passage (64) for the camshaft between the oil supply passage for the camshaft and an internal passage (61, 62) in the cylinder head (4), and branch oil passages (68) for the camshaft journals. Each branch oil passage branches off from the oil supply passage for the camshaft, and is connected to one of the bearings (73, 74) from above. Each of the branch passages includes a throttle (168) with a smaller cross-sectional flow area than the oil supply passage for the camshaft.

摘要: A valve operating device for an engine is provided. The device includes a cam element formed with an end face cam in one end thereof, and a control member driven by an actuator to project to an actuated position at which the control member is projected to engage with the end face cam so as to move the cam element in one of the axial directions, and retreat to a non-actuated position at which the control member is retreated from the actuated position. The cam element has a slope inclining in a circumferential direction of the cam element and for, when the control member is at the actuated position, sliding in contact with a contact part provided at the control member so as to forcibly move the control member back to the non-actuated position after the movement of the cam element via the end face cam is finished.
