Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide a head-up display apparatus further reduced in size, the head-up display apparatus having: an image display apparatus including a light source and a display element; and a virtual image optical system in which light emitted from the image display apparatus is reflected by a windshield or a combiner of the vehicle so that a virtual image is displayed in front of the vehicle, wherein the virtual image optical system has a concave mirror and a distortion correcting lens, and the distortion correcting lens is disposed between the image display apparatus and the concave mirror, the concave mirror is disposed in a housing including an outer case along a shape of an effective light path area of the image light from the image display apparatus, and the image display apparatus is attached to part of an outer periphery of the housing.

Abstract: A main controller of an HUD is configured to: acquire road surface information of a front road surface based on a plurality of measurement points on the front road surface, which is detected by a road surface detection sensor mounted on a vehicle with the HUD and is positioned forward of a traveling direction of the vehicle; calculate, by using the road surface information, a virtual image plane position on a virtual image plane where a virtual image of a display object is displayed, which is a display position of the virtual image for displaying the virtual image along the front road surface; and calculate a display position of a display surface within an image display device, which corresponds to the virtual image plane position, so as to output, to the image display device, a control signal for displaying the display object on the display position of the display surface.

Abstract: The present invention provides a head-up display apparatus capable of both long-distance display and short-distance display. A functional film 51 is mounted on a glare trap part 50 of a head-up display apparatus 1. In order to display a first virtual image 9a, a first image display device 30a projects a first image onto a windshield 3 via the glare trap part. In order to display a second virtual image 9b having a different display distance, a second image display device 30b generates a second image on the functional film and projects the second image onto the windshield. For the functional film 51, a variable transmittance film having a light transmittance that varies according to the applied voltage or a transparent self-luminous film in which an irradiated portion emits light when irradiated with a laser beam of a specific wavelength is used.

Abstract: A head-up display device (HUD) includes a sound analysis portion that determines whether a specific alarm is involved in sound signals from microphones 40a to 40d to collect ambient sound around a vehicle. When a specific alarm has been detected as determined by the sound analysis portion, an image display unit displays icons, representing the specific alarm. The specific alarm includes a siren sound given from an emergency vehicle and a horn sound given from a general vehicle and the sound analysis portion analyzes frequency of input sound signals and thereby determines whether the sound is the specific alarm.

Abstract: The head-up display device includes a display element that emits image light and a virtual image optical system. The virtual image optical system includes a lens unit and a free curved surface mirror disposed along the emission direction of the image light in this order from a position close to the display element. The display element is disposed with a tilting attitude with respect to the optical axis of the lens unit with an end on the housing aperture side in an emission surface being close to an incidence surface in the lens unit and with an end on the opposite side of the housing aperture in an emission surface being apart from an incidence surface in the lens unit. The lens unit has an optical characteristic of optically enlarging an optical path length difference according to a virtual image distance difference.

Abstract: In relation to a HUD apparatus having an AR function, the shift between an object and a virtual image (AR image) is reduced. The HUD apparatus extracts a predetermined object based on an image taken by an external camera, acquires object information including an object position in space, viewpoint position information of a driver and the amount of movement of the viewpoint position in space based on an image taken by an internal camera, and information including a position of a virtual image region in space. The HUD apparatus generates the image to be superimposed on the object, and corrects a display position of the image in the virtual image region including at least a position in a horizontal direction, and performs conversion processing at the time of the correction so that a virtual image region is set as a display position of the image after correction.
