Abstract: A rear view mirror assembly can switch the operating mode between a first mode in which the rear view mirror assembly is used as an optical mirror, a second mode in which a first image captured by a camera is displayed on a display screen, and a third mode in which a second image captured by the camera and displayed darker than the first image is displayed on the display screen. An actuator sets the angle of a semitransparent mirror: at a first angle in the first mode; at a second angle greater than the first angle in the second mode; and at a third angle greater than the first angle in the third mode. A controller switches the operating mode of the rear view mirror assembly between the first mode and the third mode based on a signal output from a first light sensor and indicating the illuminance.

Abstract: The present invention provides a head-up display apparatus capable of both long-distance display and short-distance display. A functional film 51 is mounted on a glare trap part 50 of a head-up display apparatus 1. In order to display a first virtual image 9a, a first image display device 30a projects a first image onto a windshield 3 via the glare trap part. In order to display a second virtual image 9b having a different display distance, a second image display device 30b generates a second image on the functional film and projects the second image onto the windshield. For the functional film 51, a variable transmittance film having a light transmittance that varies according to the applied voltage or a transparent self-luminous film in which an irradiated portion emits light when irradiated with a laser beam of a specific wavelength is used.

Abstract: An electro-optic assembly includes a first partially reflective, partially transmissive substrate defining a first surface and a second surface. A second partially reflective, partially transmissive substrate defines a third surface and a fourth surface. A space is defined between a first substrate and a second substrate. A seal is disposed about a perimeter of the first and second substrates. An electro-optic material is disposed between the second surface of the first substrate and the third surface of the second substrate. The electro-optic assembly is operable to change at least one of a reflectance state and a transmittance state in either a discrete or continuous manner. A transparent electrode coating is disposed between the second surface and the third surface. The transparent electrode coating includes an insulator layer, metal layer, and insulator layer (IMI) structure. The reflectance off of the transparent electrode coating is less than about 2%.

Abstract: An electronic mirror apparatus includes: a display unit having a display screen, a mirror disposed over the screen, a drive mechanism for changing an angle of the mirror, and a controller. The controller is electrically coupled with the display unit, the drive mechanism, an illuminance sensor for monitoring illuminance of light incident from a vehicle's rearward direction, and a camera for shooting a rearward view. The controller, when the display unit is OFF and the vehicle is in a dark environment, monitors the illuminance of the light incident from the rearward direction, based on an output of the sensor. The controller, when the illuminance of the light becomes equal to or larger than a threshold value, instructs the drive mechanism to adjust the angle of the mirror to an antiglare angle and instructs the display unit to display an image that is shot by the camera and regulated in luminance.

Abstract: Provided is a vehicular display device that offers good visibility without causing a passenger to feel uncomfortable. In a bezel that includes a cover portion arranged above a display unit of a vehicular display device and a frame portion enclosing the cover portion, a front-side end portion of the cover portion is arranged at a position lower than a rear-side end portion. As a result, external light is reflected forward. Moreover, a front frame includes a reflecting plate, a semi-transparent output plate covering over the reflecting plate, and a light-collecting portion collecting external light that enters from a front into a space enclosed by the reflecting plate and the output plate. As a result, the front frame is prevented from being darkly reflected onto a front glass.

In one example, a heads up display device includes at least one display, at least one micro lens array, at least one optical element comprising a lenticular lens or parallax barrier positioned between the display and the at least one micro lens array, and a display controller comprising a processor and memory storing instructions executable by the processor to control the at least one display to output image light that passes through the at least one optical element and the at least one micro lens array and impinges on a transparent plane to form a first three-dimensional image in a first plane and a second three-dimensional image in a second plane.

Abstract: Provided are a bezel body and a vehicular display device that effectively reduces a sense of discomfort provided to a passenger by making reflection on a windshield less visible. Since a reflection portion is formed in a predetermined area on a lower surface of a light guide member at the rear side, the guided external light is easy to reflect upward, whereby light can efficiently be emitted from the light guide member toward a descending wall. Therefore, this configuration can prevent the descending wall from being darkly reflected on a windshield, thereby making the reflection less visible and effectively reducing a sense of discomfort provided to the passenger.
