Abstract: There is described a method for synchronizing a viewer-effect signal of a media content with a media signal of the media content. The method generally has: capturing an audio portion of the media signal from a surrounding environment using a microphone; obtaining a fingerprint from the captured audio portion of the media signal; from reference fingerprints associated with reference time positions of at least a reference media content, identifying a time position of the media content corresponding to the obtained fingerprint; obtaining the viewer-effect signal associated with the identified time position of the media content; and outputting the viewer-effect signal synchronized with the media signal using the identified time position of the media content for producing an effect to a viewer in synchronization with the media signal of the media content.

Abstract: An attraction system includes a display that operates to present augmented reality and/or virtual reality (AR/VR) imagery to a guest in an interactive space. The system includes an audio controller that operates an array of speakers that are distributed throughout the interactive space and a controller having one or more processors. The one or more processors are operable to receive data indicative of a state of the guest (e.g., an action, movement, or gesture of the guest, an input received from an input device). The one or more processors are also operable to adjust the AR/VR imagery in response to the state of the guest, and instruct the audio controller to operate the array of the speakers to provide interactive audio based on the state of the guest and such that the interactive audio presents to the guest as though originating from a dynamic portion of the AR/VR imagery.

Abstract: A method, computer program product, and computing system for encoding audio encounter information of a reference audio acquisition device of a plurality of audio acquisition devices of an audio recording system, thus defining encoded reference audio encounter information. Location information may be estimated, via a machine vision system, for an acoustic source within an acoustic environment. One or more acoustic relative transfer functions may be selected from a plurality of acoustic relative transfer functions for the plurality of audio acquisition devices of the audio recording system based upon, at least in part, the location information. The encoded reference audio encounter information and a representation of the selected one or more acoustic relative transfer function may be transmitted.

Abstract: An augmented reality (AR) device, such as AR glasses, may include a microphone array. The sensitivity of the microphone array can be directed to a target by beamforming, which includes combining the audio of each microphone of the array in a particular way based on a location of the target. The present disclosure describes systems and methods to determine the location of the target based on a gaze of a user and beamform the audio accordingly. This eye-tracked beamforming (i.e., foveated beamforming) can be used by AR applications to enhance sounds from a gaze direction and to suppress sounds from other directions. Additionally, the gaze information can be used to help visualize the results of an AR application, such as speech-to-text.

Abstract: A device and a method are provided for producing a sound field are disclosed. The device comprises a plurality of loudspeakers arranged at a plurality of locations within a plane and a processing circuitry configured to drive the plurality of loudspeakers. A first subset of the plurality of loudspeakers defines a first rhombus within the plane and a second subset of the plurality of loudspeakers defines a second rhombus within the plane. The first rhombus is oriented substantially perpendicular to the second rhombus. Further subsets of the plurality of loudspeakers may define further rhombic sub-arrays. The audio device may be implemented as a soundbar or a sound panel, which provides a richer sound experience.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and apparatus are provided for monitoring and improving one or more acoustic parameters in single- and multi-zone habitable environments. The acoustic monitoring system includes a built structure, a central control circuit, an acoustic control system, an environment database, an electronic user device, and acoustic sensor arrays which are installed within the built structure. To facilitate the sensor installation process, the built structure may be delineated into one or more zones. The central control circuit may be configured to instruct the installation of acoustic sensor arrays in particular zones within the built structure to obtain improved or even optimal or near optimal acoustic sensor array placement.
