Abstract:
Disclosed herein are methods and compositions of blended polycarbonate resins with improved hydrolytic stability. The resulting compositions, comprising a hydrotalcite and inorganic buffer, can be used in the manufacture of articles while still retaining the advantageous physical properties of blended polycarbonate compositions with improved hydrolytic stability. This abstract is intended as a scanning tool for purposes of searching in the particular art and is not intended to be limiting of the present invention.

Abstract:
An aromatic carbonate polymer composition having improved thermal stability consisting of an aromatic carbonate polymer such as a polycarbonate or polycarbonate/polyester blend and an impact modifier which is free of alkali materials which catalytically degrade a polycarbonate. Also an impact modifier which is preferably of a shell-core structure prepared by the emulsion polymerization process and has a pH of about 3 to about 8. A preferred emulsifier is an alkyl sulfonate having an alkyl group of C6-C18 carbons.

Abstract:
This disclosure relates generally to polysulfone compositions whose residual phenolic monomers or phenolic degradation products exhibit little or no estradiol binding activity. Also disclosed are methods for making the disclosed polysulfones and articles of manufacture comprising the disclosed polysulfones.

This disclosure relates generally to polycarbonate compositions whose hydrolysis products and residual monomer content, if any, exhibit little or no estradiol binding activity. Also disclosed are methods for making the disclosed polycarbonates and articles of manufacture comprising the disclosed polycarbonates.
Abstract:
Thermoplastic compositions comprising polyamide, polyimide, an organo phosphorus compound and an optional reinforcing filler are described. The subject compositions are useful in blow molding methods. A method of blow molding is also described as well as articles made by the method.
Abstract:
A data storage medium includes a haze-prevention layer between a heat-resistant thermoplastic substrate and a reflective metal layer. The haze-prevention layer includes a metal having a tensile modulus of at least about 15×106 pounds per square inch. The data storage medium resists hazing of the reflective layer at elevated temperatures.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a thermoplastic resin with improved impact strength comprising a) a thermoplastic polyether sulfone resin and b) glass fibers treated with a polyolefin wax. The polyolefin wax may be polyethylene wax, polypropylene wax, polyethylene-propylene wax, or polyethylene-butylene wax. The polyethersulfone resin glass blend has high modulus and improved impact strength.
Abstract:
A molded article suitable for direct application of a reflective metal coating includes an amorphous thermoplastic or thermoplastic blend having a glass transition temperature greater than about 170° C. and at least one thermally stable colorant that contributes to the article's dark appearance. The article has excellent dimensional stability, and the surface to which a metal coating can be applied exhibits low gloss. Application of a metal coating to the molded article produces a metalized surface with high total reflectivity, low diffuse reflectivity, and low haze. Compositions and methods for forming the article are described.
