Abstract:
Disclosed herein are methods and compositions of blended polycarbonate resins with improved hydrolytic stability. The resulting compositions, comprising a hydrotalcite and inorganic buffer, can be used in the manufacture of articles while still retaining the advantageous physical properties of blended polycarbonate compositions with improved hydrolytic stability. This abstract is intended as a scanning tool for purposes of searching in the particular art and is not intended to be limiting of the present invention.
Abstract:
An aromatic carbonate polymer composition having improved thermal stability consisting of an aromatic carbonate polymer such as a polycarbonate or polycarbonate/polyester blend and an impact modifier which is free of alkali materials which catalytically degrade a polycarbonate. Also an impact modifier which is preferably of a shell-core structure prepared by the emulsion polymerization process and has a pH of about 3 to about 8. A preferred emulsifier is an alkyl sulfonate having an alkyl group of C6-C18 carbons.

Polycarbonate and polyester blends are prepared with a combination of modifiers comprising a multi-stage polyorganosiloxane-based graft polymer composition and a diene rubber-based graft polymer composition imparting a wide range of excellent physical properties on the PC and PE blends.
Abstract:
Determining the rate of change of fluid pressure in a tire comprises mounting the tire in an inflated condition. A tire pressure sensor senses fluid pressure in the tire and generates an electrical signal in proportion to the fluid pressure sensed in the tire. A temperature sensor senses the temperature adjacent the tire and generates an electrical signal in proportion to the temperature sensed adjacent the tire. A data acquisition system is in electrical communication with the sensors. The data acquisition system receives the electrical signals from the respective sensors at a substantially simulatneously time and converts the electrical signals into digital information. An electronic digital computer is an electrical communication with the data acquisition system for receiving the digital information and for calculating a value representative of a corrected pressure in the tire as a function of the digital information received. A plurality of the corrected pressure values are stored. The stored corrected pressure values are linearized to provide another value indicative of the rate of change of pressure in the tire.
Abstract:
Polyphasic resin blends and particularly polycarbonate/polyester blends, are prepared with modifiers comprising combinations of polyorganosiloxane/polyvinyl-based graft copolymer(s), polyorganosiloxane-based graft copolymer(s) and/or diene rubber-based graft copolymer(s), imparting a wide range of physical properties to the blends.
Abstract:
Polyamide-carbonate block copolymers are made by admixture of polyamides with carbonate polymers containing carboxyl groups or an ester groups capable of elimination to form carboxyl groups, in the presence of a polyepoxy linking agent, such as triglycidyl isocyanurate. Such block copolymers may be used as thermoplastics or as blending agents for polyamides and carbonate polymers.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a formable thermoplastic multi-layer article comprising an outer layer comprising a polymer comprising resorcinol arylate polyester chain members, a middle layer comprising a thermoplastic polymer, an inner tie-layer comprising a thermoplastic polymer comprising a carbonate polymer and bulk polymerized acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS), the middle layer being between the outer layer and the inner tie-layer and being in contact with both the outer layer and the inner tie-layer. Also disclosed is a thermoformed multi-layer article. A method of making the article is also disclosed.
